Fisherman's Wood Ape Encounter.

New posts every Friday.

Until the end of October 🎃

Fisherman's Wood ape Encounter.👣

First hand account...

I believe it was in June of 2003 when I was fishing on the Breitenbush River approximately 4 miles upstream from Detroit, OR. The river flows through a fairly steep gorge at this point. Because of a hip replacement I had less than a year before, I moved very slowly and deliberately down to the river. The weather was clear and the ground dry.

The river is approximately 50 ft wide, swift, and could be as deep as 10 feet. I had been fishing for about 15 minutes when I heard a loud branch snap across the river. In retrospect, I would say the snap sounded like a dry 3-inch branch snapping.

I placed the sound about 20 feet up the bank. Since I was armed and very immobile with my bad hip, I decided to continue fishing. My thought was that there was a bear or elk in the thick brush. I kept an eye on the other bank but soon lost interest. I then heard a second loud snap similar to the first. Now, whatever it was had my attention. There was something big across the river in the brush. However, I was armed and separated by the river. I continued to fish with my eye on the other side.

As I continously scanned the area, I observed what I first thought was a man move from right to left through a clearing near the source of the sound.

The sighting lasted only about 3 seconds. There was no sound as "it" moved. My actual thought was, "Oh, there's a man over there." I then thought, "Damn', he was one big..." I was approximately 25 yards away when I saw "it". As my mind digested the information I realized that what I saw had the profile of a sasquatch. I remember a barrel chest, no neck, and it was bi-pedal.

I climbed back over the hill to my car to drive over to the other side. No way could I cross directly. Approximately one quarter of a mile upstream, I found a place to park and a path. The path along the river was well above the point where I spotted "it". Because of my hip, I could not cut through the brush to the river. There was no lower path.

Bozeman Bigfoot..

First hand account of  a Bigfoot sighting off US191 near Bozeman Montana in 1993.

Witness account.....

Two friends and I were backpacking in the summer of 93'. We were going to hike the Gallatin divide that summer, one weekend at a time. We started south of Bozeman and planned to finish in Yellowstone latter that summer. This was our third weekend and it being a Sunday we were hiking out to our car which was parked at the Portal Creek access. It was getting late in the day and it looked like some weather was rolling in.

We were coming down the west side of windy pass so we decided to double time it so we weren't exposed in the weather. We didn't make it to the tree line before the storm hit us. The wind was howling and a nasty mix of rain/hail came down on us. When we were well enough below tree line we decided to sit out the storm by this rock out cropping. Wind whipping through the hills, especially in a rocky area like this, has a very distinct sound. It seemed like there was something else in that in that howl. Something that didn't quite sound like it was part of the wind. No one commented on it but I could tell by how Dan and Kevin were looking around that they heard it too.

After about 45 minutes the wind died a bit and only a slight drizzle was falling. We started hiking back down, the clouds were clearing and it looked like we were gonna get a good view of sun setting over the Spanish peaks. We were coming through this clearing that had been cut maybe ten years ago. The sun was almost out of sight when we heard some thrashing across the clearing. It could have been almost anything but since we were in bear country Kevin took out his .357; not enough to stop a determined grizzly, but it was better than nothing. We proceeded slowly across the clearing. It was maybe a hundred yards towards to older tree line, with a lot of scrub and young pines in between. I was looking up for circling carrion when I heard this howl. It sounded like what I had heard earlier but now the wind wasn't behind it. It sent a chill up my spine. Dan, who was behind me yelled something to the effect of "holy shit" and pointed off to our right. Something massive and dark and clearly running on two legs ran through the brush about sixty yards away and disappeared into the forest. I don't think any of us moved or spoke for about five minutes until we heard the howl (yell?) again (this time pretty far off and in the opposite direction than we were heading) We got out of there in a hurry.

We didn't tell too many people about this when we got back to town. We did return back to Portal Creek access the next weekend to start our hike again and I've been back to that area several times since hunting or just out of curiosity and I've never heard or seen anything unusual.

Wisconsin Werewolf sightings

Dodman Encounters

On October 31, 1991 at 8:30pm, a woman driving along  Bray Road near Delavan, Wisconsin which is approximately thirty miles south-southeast of Jefferson(site of Schackelman encounter in 1936), felt her right front tire jump off the pavement as if it had hit something.

 The woman stopped her car and looked into the misty darkness and saw a dark hairy creature with a bulked-out chest racing towards her. She went back into her car and tried to speed away when the creature leaped onto her trunk. The creature eventually fell off from the trunk because the trunk was too wet to have a firm grip. Later, the woman returned with a friend and they had a glimpsed of a big form rising from the side of the road.

Lorianne Endrizzi had a similar encounter as above in the fall of 1989.

 She was driving on Bray Road, a half a mile away from the above encounter, where she thought it was a person kneeling in a hunched position at the edge of the road. She slowed down and to her surprise, the figure stared at her at no more then six feet across the passenger side of the car. The figure was covered with grayish brown hair, with big fangs and pointed ears. "His face was long and had a snout, like a wolf." She told reporter Scarlett Sankay.

 The figure's eyes glowed in the darkness and they were a yellowish-gold color. 'The arms were really a kind of strange; jointed like a man or woman would be," she said. "He was holding his hands with his palms upward. The arms were muscular 'like a man who had worked out a little bit." The back legs looked like they were behind him, like a person kneeling." The sighting lasted about 45 seconds and she had no idea what the creature could have been until she saw an illustration at the library of a werewolf.

Around that same time as above in Elkhorn, near Delevan, a dairy farmer named Scott Bray saw a "strange looking dog" along his pasture on Bray Road. It was bigger and taller than a German shepherd, it had pointed ears and hairy tail, with long, scraggly grayish black hair. It is "built heavy in front - a real strong chest." In the soft soil nearby he found enormous footprints which is four to five inches in diameter

Bigfoot in the Piney Woods

First hand account in East Texas piney woods.

This encounter taks place roughly 24 miles from Lufkin off hwy 103 in 1996

My wife and I set out for  an overnight camping trip in the country. I go hiking and camping fairly often and my wife sometimes accompanies me on my outings. This time we went about 30 miles southeast from where we live, in Nacogdoches to some remote family-owned land.

 Our land is on a small blacktop county road and few people live there. Only one neighbor lives close by, an old woman across the road. The road parallels Sam Rayburn reservoir for several miles and is a short distance from it at this point. It was late afternoon when we arrived there. Wildlife are plentiful in this area, with deer, bobcat, hogs, etc. and since I occasionally would hunt deer there, I put out some corn for them to get ready for season and then we set up our camp. We have a small storage building that family and friends use to sleep in on our hunting and camping outings. After we were set up for the night, I started a fire about five yards away from the building to roast hot dogs on. It was beginning to get dark at this time. We have a camcorder that we always take on our trips and I filmed the outing.

I remembered that as it had gotten dark, dogs could be heard across the nearby road, barking like crazy. Up to this point I filmed everything, but since I was getting hungry, I stopped to make me some supper.

 My wife was sitting down on a makeshift chair and I was at the fire. Suddenly, a loud howl, or hoot came from a nearby creekbottom, a distance of about 70 yards. The sound is best described as a "WOO-WAAH" sound. It was very loud and sounded almost baboon-like, but also much like a human's vocal chords. We were both shocked by the piercing sound, but before we could react, whatever it was came to within approximately 8 yards and screamed again. My wife jumped from her chair sideways and ran to the shed spraining her ankle in the process.

I didn't know what the sounds were, but I am sure they were NOT deer, hogs or hoot owls, or anything else that I have EVER heard. I could not be sure if it was not some prankster, although someone would risk getting shot coming to a person's camp at night like that. I ran to the shed to get my pistol which I always carry on our outings, all the while the "animal" screamed the same sound in rapid succession, about 7 times in all.The sound emanated from behind a pile of tree limbs placed there on previous outings.

 I went to the edge of our camp and shined my flashlight into and around the pile and held my pistol ready, but no more sounds were heard. I couldn't see any eyes shining in my flashlight beam either. Even though we were a little unnerved by the event, I planned to go ahead and make our beds for the night, but my wife's ankle was beginning to swell and she was in pain, so we packed our things and went back home. I have gone back a few times since then, but have not noticed anything strange. So if it wasn't a bigfoot, fine I just don't really know what it was. All the experienced outdoorsmen I have talked to about the sounds say they have never heard anything like them either.

The two decided to leave the area after hearing the unsettling vocalizations and realizing that the wife’s ankle was quite possibly sprained. The wife remarked that she has not returned to the site since, nor will she ever go back in the future.

Bigfoot in the Angelina national forest.

                 🌳🌳🌳🌳🌳👣🌳🌳🌳🌳🌳

Two men doing seismic drilling in the in the Angelina national forest have a Bigfoot encounter in 1979.

The two men had been drilling seismic holes at one eighth of a mile intervals in a straight line. They had turned off the equipment and were sitting on their machines taking a break.

Untill they noticed that the forest had become unnaturally quiet. His description was this: “It became so quiet you could hear your cigarette burning.” the witness claimed.

Movement caught his eye as the creature stood up. He briefly saw its profile before it turned and moved silently off in a relaxed pace from left to right. It took four or five steps and was gone into the ravine. He was immediately struck by the way its long arms swung. In that instant he realized it was not a bear he was observing.

The body was stocky and quite muscular. It was broad shouldered with a very large chest. It did not taper at the waist but remained thick and solid with an estimated weigh of 400lbs. It was solidly covered with four or five inch, long reddish brown hair with the exception of the facial area where the hair was sparse. Its height was 6 feet or taller.

The witness had the impression that it had been watching them and was curious about the noisy machine they were running. At no time did he feel threatened or scared.

The 153,179-acre Angelina National Forest is located in Angelina, Nacogdoches, San Augustine and Jasper counties. The forest lies in the Neches River Basin and on the north and south shores of Sam Rayburn Reservoir, an 114,500-acre lake.

One of the witnesses statement..

 I was doing seismic, drilling in the Angelina National forest for several weeks. Late one afternoon, in a opening, we decided to stop and take a break, on the upper end of an open area in the thick woods. It was quiet, when I saw something, large and dark brownish, stand up and walk away from me. It was approx; 100 yards away.

It walked 20 to 50 feet then descended into a ravine, it looked to go down on all four legs as it went into the ravine then it was gone.

I thought it was a bear, but chances of seeing a bear in 1979, would be slim.This animal walked on two legs. This only lasted for just a few seconds,10 maybe. I turned to my coworker and asked, "Did you see that? he said yes, and what the bleep was that?" I have thought about this for several years and in my mind's eye I can still see the animal walking away from me to this day, 30 years later.

Bigfoot in the Big Thicket

There have been several Bigfoot sightings in the Texas Big Thicket and Sam Houston National Forest

This sightings takes place June 22,2014 in the early morning, an eyewitness claimed to to see what could only be described as a large male sasquatch.

First hand account....

 I was on my way to my work yard in New Caney Texas. It was very cloudy that morning with heavy dew rising. I was driving the speed limit 35mph looking for local wildlife like I do every morning. I might add this area is thickly wooded, but also is dotted with many homes. The area is also close to the river. I noticed a very tall shadowy figure approaching a group of cows with a calf. It was at least 8 to 9' tall and about 48 to 50" wide at the shoulders. I slowed down as much as possible. It saw my brake lights and turned to look at me. I am a good judge of distance for I am a bow hunter and I estimated it to be 45 to 50 yards away. It had a long sloping forehead and very defined brow ridge. I could not tell what color its hair was but I noticed a long beard and its arms hung down to almost his knees. I struggled to get my phone out to take a picture by the time I got it out it turned and walked into the woods. I think it might have been going for the calf. There are many water sources in that area and abundant wildlife in those woods.

The sighting location was a cleared out pine forest that had been turned into pasture for cows. Very close to a major river water source, the San Jacinto river. Many stock ponds and private ponds can also be found in this area.

Follow up statement/claim.

Witness said the creature stood entirely upright and was not crouching or bent over. The creature's hands were straight down, hanging to about its knees. He describes the creature's hands as huge, "large enough to palm a watermelon". He assumed the creature was male due to its enormous size and lack of female anatomy.

The head was huge, with a sloping forehead and a broad, pronounced brow. Nothing particular was mentioned about the eyes and there was no visible neck, just head atop massive shoulders.

The creature was almost entirely one dark color - like blackish - and very hairy. The only area that was not covered in thick black hair was the chest area... That area was either a lighter color hair or the hair was thinner, exposing more skin.

A unique observation was that the creature had a distinct beard. It was the same color as the rest of the hair, started just below the cheeks and extended to the chest area. described as very distinct and scraggly.

He said the creature seemed to notice him when he applied the brakes. The witness feels the creature saw the bright LED brake lights. It watched the witness as he pulled to a stop, then calmly turned and walked back in the other direction. The witness made a point of saying it walked calmly, did not run, in casual, long strides. It walked near a farm house and disappeared into the woods behind it without turning around again.

Interestingly, the cows never seemed alarmed or afraid.

The witness was unable to follow on foot because it was private property clearly marked as no trespass.

The sighting area described as being surrounded by ripe, seeding, wild sunflower plants. After a brief time, the witness drove the short distance to work, but said he didn't tell his coworkers as "things like this might be embarrassing".

East Texas Bigfoot Encounter

A first hand account of an eyewitness encounter in Lufkin TX

During October of 1968.

On  a Friday night, after a date, my girlfriend and I had stopped alongside a heavily wooded dirt road that had been cleared to expand the subdivision where she lived with her parents. The moon was full and the night was very bright. As we talked, I began to feel an odd sensation, as if I were being watched. Apparently she felt something too, because we both suddenly became quiet.

I turned to look out the driver-side window of my car, when I looked straight into the dark face of a very large, man-like, hairy creature which had hunched down to stare at us. It was approximately 6 feet from me. The moonlight shone on the white dirt road behind it, making its silhouette very clear. The oddest thing (as if the creature weren't enough) was that its eyes glowed faintly pale yellow in its dark face. This glow did not appear to be a reflection of moonlight, as the moon was high and to its back. Its shoulders were very broad, and it had no distinct neck - as if its shoulders sloped up to blend into its head. Although stooped on one knee, it was as tall as my car.

I noticed all this in a flash (although I'll never forget it), because I quickly turned back to look at my girlfriend. When her eyes caught mine, she lost it and began to scream bloody murder. That settled it for me - I started the car and sped away.

After I left her safely at her parents house, I looked up some friends who went back with me to search for the creature. Within an hour, four of us were back waiting on the road. Dogs were barking everywhere. We heard cattle gates being rattled across some fields beyond the woods. We saw nothing.

The next day, a friend and I returned to search for tracks. We found none on the packed sand of the road. We did find unusual signs in the woods, but most were indistinct due to a covering of pine straw. Late in the day, as we walked back onto the road, I got the same eerie feeling again. I turned to look back into the woods. The sun was setting through the woods, and I suddenly saw the creature's silhouette between the pine trees. It was following us - silently. I whispered for my friend to look. At first he couldn't see it, and moved back and forth to scan the thicket. The creature mimicked his movements. After it moved, my friend spotted it. Without speaking, we bolted, ran to my car, and drove off.

None of us spoke much about it afterwards, although many at our high school heard about it and bothered us with questions. Except for a few friends, I seldom discuss it

Wolfman in Wisconsin .

                                     Wolfman  Sighting on  Bray Rd. in 2004

A Wisconsin woman and her daughter may have had a close encounter with the Beast of Bray Rd.

One night in 2004, a 45 year old nurse from Greendale, her 14 year old daughter and 14 year old friend saw what was definitely the wolfman while driving down Bray Road about 8:30 p.m. October 30, 2004, for the sole purpose of trying to scare the daughter's friend, Kevin. The woman is trained in anatomy, physiology, and kinesiology, and they estimate the creature was no farther than 9 feet away from them and illuminated in the headlights of their car. "We had been looking for it for years," said the woman.

Kevin had never been to Bray Road so her daughter wanted to scare him, they arrived about 8:30, drove up and down the road a few times, drove around Bowers Road and back onto Bray Road, driving slowly and under the speed limit, when something popped out of the corn about two miles down the road, heading toward Elkhorn.

It stepped right out of the corn and it looked aggressive. We all screamed very loud, she put her foot on the gas, and went away as fast as she could and did not go back. What she saw doesn't make sense.

A quadruped has its legs "backward' for speed and agility. But this creature had large powerful thigh muscles and its knee was backward. It was covered in fur, with heavier fur on its back. It was dark in color but tipped silvery gray. It was in the oncoming lane of traffic so they were less than nine feet away from the creature. It was not a person in a suit, it was way too tall (about seven feet) and way too muscular, and its eyes were glittery and dark, it had no whites like a human's eyes in a mask would have. It's head was big, almost too big for its body. It had an elongated snout, but pointy, not rounded like a dog.

It stood there, and then it hunched over into an aggressive stance. It's arms were bent at the elbow and forward. Its ears were pointed, shaped like a German shepherd's, but laid back. It was looking right at them and they all felt it was aggressive and would defend itself viciously.

This wasn't a dog. Or a wolf. It had canine features but it was something else something different, yet the same. It was a Wolf man. They all had the feeling they were not safe. And didn't get a picture although they had cameras all over the car, video camera, digital camera, and a disposable camera, they were prepared. But when they saw it, they all just screamed and then the mother floored the gas.

The woman said she was not drinking any alcohol and does not do drugs. She has had a few incidents in her life she considers "somewhat" paranormal, but has never seen anything definite like that. All three witnesses saw the creature at the same time and agreed on its appearance.

The New Hampshire Wood Devil.

 A short post today, more coming soon ! :)

                         The New Hampshire Wood Devil

The Woods Devil, or more likely  Woods Devils, is a  Bigfoot like cryptid  that has been sighted in the woodlands and hills of Coos County, New Hampshire since at least the 1930s.

 They may be a  subspecies of Bigfoot.or they may be a separate species all together.

According to eye witness accounts it resembles a  skinny Sasquatch-like creatures standing as  tall as around 7-9 feet and has shaggy tan-gray hair.

One unusual trait, slightly similar to  behavior of the Hidebehind, or even the Whirling Whimpus, is that this cryptid uses the trees to hide.

It's said that these creatures will hide behind a tree when a human is coming, and stay behind that tree until they leave. If there is no cover to hide in, the Woods Devil will stand perfectly still.

Woodsmen, hikers, and others have described hearing screams of these creatures echoing the hollows of Coos County.

 Tales of the Woods Devils were told old lumberjack and can be found is  the tales of fearsome critters.

Strange Werewolf Encounters

                                    (post from my old blog)

  Strange Werewolf Encounters

  Werewolf Sightings🦊🌕🐺

1 - Shapeshifting Werewolf of Texas

Lycanthropy Mrs. Delburt Gregg of Greggton, Texas, told of her encounter with a shapeshifting creature in the 1960 issue of Fate. The other surveyed sightings below are of creature that looked like man-wolves but no one have seen one becoming another. Mrs. Gregg have not seen a man turned into a wolf but she has actually came closer then anyone else in telling a tale that sounds like a chapter from a werewolf novel than a real life experience.
Mrs. Gregg said that one night in 1958 when her husband was on a business trip, she moved her bed close to a screen window hoping to catch some cool breeze from a thunderstorm brewing on the south western horizon. She heard a scratching sound from the window shortly after she fell asleep. In a flash of a lightning, she saw a huge, shaggy, wolf-like creature clawing at the screen and staring at her with baleful, glowing, slitted eyes. She saw its bared white fangs.
The creature fled from the yard into a clump of bushes as she leaped from her bed to grab a flash light. Mrs. Gregg said "I watched for the animal to come out of the bushes, but after a short time, instead of a great shaggy wolf running out, the figure of an extremely tall man suddenly parted the thick foliage and walked hurriedly down the road, disappearing into the darkness."

2 - Wisconsin Werewolf Sighting

Mark Schackelman was driving east of highway 18 near Jefferson, in southeastern Wisconsin on an evening in 1936 when he saw a figure digging in an Indian mound. He saw a hair covered creature that is over six feet tall with both ape-like and dog-like features with pointed ears standing erect. Its hands have shriveled thumb and a forefinger on each and also three fully formed fingers.
Schackelman went back to the sighting the next evening hoping to see the creature again and he did. The creature was making "neo-human" sounds with a three syllable growling. Years later, his son who is a Kenosha newspaper editor, wrote that his "father's first thought was that it must be something satanic." (In southeastern Wisconsin, several decades later, equally enigmatic beast would figure in a host of reports as described below).

3 - Werewolf Creature in Ohio

Between July and October 1972, a number of residents of Ohio allegedly saw a werewolf-like creature. Some people reported encountering a six to eight-foot tall creature that a witness described as "human, with an oversized, wolf-like head, and an elongated nose." Another said it "had huge, hairy feet, fangs, and it ran from side to side, like a caveman in the movies."

4 - Werewolf Attack Reported in New Mexico

Four Gallup, New Mexico, youths allegedly encountered a "werewolf" along the side of a road near Whitewater one day in January 1970. One witness reported "It was about five feet seven, and I was surprised it could go so fast. At first I thought my friends were playing a joke on me, but when I found out they weren't, I was scared! We rolled up the windows real fast and lock the doors of the cars. I started driving faster, about 60, but it was hard because that highway had a lot of sharp turns. Someone finally got a gun out and shot it. I know it got hit and fell down, but there was no blood. I know it couldn't be a person because people cannot move that fast."

5 - Navaho Skin-Walker

Skin-walker is another name for a werewolf that the Navahos of the southwest. In 1936, in Yale Publications in Anthropology, anthropologist William Morgan recounted an interview with a Navaho identified only as Hahago. Hahago said of skin-walker "They go very fast.They can go to Albuquerque in an hour and a half" - a four-hour trip by automobile, according to Morgan.

6 - Red Eyed Werewolves of Pennsylvania

In the fall of 1973 western Pennsylvania played host to dozens of reports of strange apelike creatures, sometimes seen in association with UFOS, said to have (in one witness's words) "fire red eyes that glow in darkness." To be seven to eight feet tall, and gives off a strong unpleasant odor. "Another type of creature" investigator Stan Gordon noted, "was said to be between five and six feet tall. It was described as looking just like an extremely muscular man with a covering of thick dark hair. Again in these reports, the arms were very long and hung down past the knees. This creature appeared to have superior agility exceeding that of a deer. From footprints discovered, the stride of creatures varies between 52 and 57 inches. In these reports there was no indication of odors."

7 - Wisconsin Werewolf Attack

On October 31, 1991 at 8:30pm, a woman drove on Bray Road near Delavan, Wisconsin which is approximately thirty miles south-southeast of Jefferson(site of Schackelman encounter in 1936), felt her right front tire jump off the pavements if it had hit something. Later, the woman returned with a friend and they had a glimpsed of a big form rising from the side of the road.

North American cryptid's: The Hidebehind

                                                              The Hidebehind

Today's subject originates from  the myths of the North American lumberjacks.

Most people visit our National Parks without a problem, but for an unlucky few, they just never walk out of the woods again

To date, hundreds of people have simply disappeared in the forest of North America, todays cryptid by many accounts may be responsible for at least some of them.

00000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000

The Hidebehind is a famous creature from American folklore originating in the thick forests of the  pacific northwest, Oregon and Washington.

The Hidebehind  gets its name from its ability to hide itself seemingly anywhere..

Whenever someone tries to look at it directly, the cryptid will hide behind any nearby object or sometimes even behind the person it's stalking and therefore cannot be directly seen.

It uses this stealth ability to hunt its human prey without being seen and to attack without warning.

According to legend, it's preferred diet is the intestines of its victim and it's said to have  a severe aversion to alcohol, which is considered a good way to ward of this shadowy beast.

Old story's of the hidebehind were often used as a means of explaining the  many strange noises in the forest at night.

despite the fact that no one has supposedly every actually seen one, some of the earliest  accounts of the Hidebehind is usually  described as a very large and powerful beast.

In the early days of logging in the mostly uncharted pacific northwest injuries and even death was a common  occurrence, logging accidents, wild animals ect.

Eventually the disappearances of  lumberjacks that just never returned to camp were blamed on the hidebehind.

This stealthy cryptid is believed to target anyone in the forest, loggers, hiker, campers ect, and drag them off never to be sen again.

So the next time you venture into the woods for a relaxing day in nature, be alert because you never now what may be creeping up on you just out of sight.

American Cryptids: The Whirling Whimpus

                                                  ===The Whirling Whimpus===

---------------------------------------
The Forest and mountains are full of strange and particular beings, cryptids, monsters
and everything in between.
===============================================

No doubt most of you know of the cranky whirling tornado of destruction
from the old loony tunes cartoon named Taz-- the Tasmanian devil ...

and

We've all heard or Bigfoot and The Yeti.

But what if you came across a creature that by all accounts is some odd combination
of the two...

Then you've just meet the strange and powerful cryptid called the Whirling Whimpus.

===================================

 Legend's of the Whirling Whimpus come from the Lumberjacks and woodsman of the Cumberland Mountains in Tennessee.

This cryptid  is a bigfoot like  creature that hunt's the wood's of North America and
is believed to  be responsible for many of the strange  disappearances woodsman, campers and wayward hikers

 ==========================

The whimpus has been described as very  gorilla-like in appearance .

It stands at around 7 feet tall, with a black fur and a large or fat upper body.

In many accounts the whimpus legs are said to be horse-like with hooves.

It's  favorite meals seems to be people.

But it also hunts turkey, deer, cows, even bears.

 It's said to  spins at a stunning 2,150 r.p.m. and usually only dose this at sundown

.this speed also creates a humming sound and blurs the creature to the point that is is
almost entirely invisible.

---------------------------------------------------------------
--Hunting Habits--------------------------------
----------------------------------------

When it senses prey approaching from a nearby trail or path, it hides, usually justy at the bend of the trail.

Then when the victim comes close enough, the Whirling Whimpus begins to spin around on one foot or hoof at a  rapid pace As it does this, the wind emits a low droning  or humming  sound that seems to be coming from the trees above.

As the prey looks up, trying to locate the sound, the Whimpus attacks and kills target with rapid powerful strikes, beating it into a past  and slurping up the remains !

The Whirling Whimpus is also called (Turbinoccissus nebuloides).

Monsters, Cryptids and Yokai: Batsquatch

batsquatch

Sightings of strange humanoid creatures can be found all over the world. The Sasquatch / bigfoot of North America, The Alma of Siberia Lizard Man of Scape Ore Swamp, the Mothman of Point Pleasant  West Virginia  or  the Owlman of Cornwall. And what about the mysterious “bat-woman of Viet Nam”, spotted by three U.S. soldiers during the war in Southeast Asia, The Ahool and the Orang Bati and so on......

Unidentified creatures stalking the woods is a scary thought in and of itself, but Flying Humanoids
have also been sighted hundreds if not thousands of time's at this point and some encounters are
far more terrifying in nature then the random bigfoot sighting.. (Flying Humanoid post coming soon)

So what would you do if you encountered one of these larger then life beings that just so happened to have  the ability to  fly?..

........

One such encounter took place near Mount St. Helens back in the 1980s.

The creature is now commonly referred to as Batsquatch !

The eye witness account describes the beast as standing at least 9 feet tall with yellow eyes, a wolf-like
muzzle, blue fur, sharp teeth, bird-like feet and large leathery bat-like wings that span up to at least
fifty feet.

Brian Canfield was the first person to actually have his name associated with a Batsquatch sighting.

He was also the one that first called it “Batsquatch”.

Brian’s friends and family testified that he was an ordinary and dependable man with no bad habits or traits. Of course, many had a field day with his report and he was smeared as a drunk or a drug addict when investigation revealed neither of those traits.

==================

It all started on On April 1994, when  Brian Canfield was driving in Washington's Pierce County when his truck suddenly died.

Brian believed this creature had the ability to effect cars and had somehow stopped his vehicle.(
(The ability to affect electronics/ motors is also similar the the mothman)

Canfield said a large creature landed in front of him an it was human-like, 9 ft tall with batlike wings and blue fur.

 ===============

..Other Sightings..
  ===============
1994 was also the year that a mountain guide and liquor store owner Butch Whittaker reported an encounter with Batsquatch. Whittaker claimed to have been flying a small plane to Mt. Rainier when he saw the devilish humanoid flying close to the plane. Whittaker says he was able to snap pictures of the winged beast but as is typical in paranormal stories, the photos remain unseen. Many take Whittaker’s claims with an extra large grain of salt.

==============================================================

Another possible sighting was reported in 2009 near Mt. Shasta in California.
Several hikers witnessed a  Very Large creature with leathery wings (spanning possibly up to 50 ft.) fly out of a crevice in the mountain.

At first, an eye-witness described the creature as having a head similar to a pterodactyl, however upon reconsideration the witness claimed
it was more like a bat or a fox.

----------------------------------

In June 2011 Pheonix Tieraz-(pseudonym) was in his yard walking his dog.

He went to pick up the dog when he saw something in the sky. He said the following-------

 "I saw something flying the the sky.
  It had bat wings, blue fur and had a face similar  to a bats with glowing red eyes.
  It was about 9 feet tall at the least, after I watched, it just flew away. "
===================

On April 14, 2014 at Archbishop Hoban High School in Akron OH, a second period Spanish class spotted a giant black mass zip by the  window of the classroom at incredible speed.

The class claims it was about 9 feet tall with a 20-30 foot wingspan.

==============

So what do you think? is there a large flying bigfoot like creature stalking the sky's of North America, or is this  an  undiscovered giant bat specie's...

keep an eye on the sky... you never know whats flying just out of sight waiting to strick.......

                                       ==============================

                                           ===========================

                            Batsquatch is also a beer :)

American Cryptids: Cactus Cat.

                🌵---🐈-----Cactus Cat----🐈---🌵

 ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Diet and Habitat, Cactus Cat is a barbed or spiky cat like cryptid that's spotted mostly in the Southwestern  states and part's of Mexico, it  has a mild temperament and seems to enjoy Cactus sap.
...........................................................................................................................................................

 Many people at least those in the Southwest have heard of the Jackalope a bunny with antlers (Post on him Later)....

But How many of you know of the Cactus Cat?

This not so cuddly creature has been  spotted through out the American southwest but what is it, a new spices of feline, desert hysteria or just a misidentified know large cat...

 .............

The legend of the Cactus Cat is most likely the result of misidentification, probably a normal  bobcat, or possibly even a porcupine.

The cat's  strange call or wail may have been that of a puma.

Or quit  possibly, Cactus Cat could even be an undiscovered  species of bobcat with quills....who knows...

===================================================================

The first sightings of Cactus Cat seems to have originated with cowboys and pioneers heading west in the  1800's.

They claim to have witnessed this creature mostly  at night, it would apparently be seen slashing open cacti and exposing the sap.

Only to return a few  nights after, at witch point it was said to drink the fermented juice.

However doing this seemed to caused the cats to enter an drunken state, stumbling around and sometimes attacking travelers.

Cactus Cat attack's are still considered rare, but did happen from time to time, with many frontiersmen waking up to find welts on their body from the cat's barbed tail.

Although despite these minor attacks, the Cactus Cat was not considered an aggressive creature.

This spiky little guy is also  known to have a unique or even haunting "wail" that could be heard throughout the dark and desolate  desert late at night. along with the dry sound of its bones rubbing together.(Possibly the barbs or quills hitting one another.)..

                                       ............Cactus Cat is also a Brand of Beer.....

American Cryptids: The Squonk

                               .........The Squonk or Teary Squonk is a sad and lonely creature.......

The  Squonk also know as The Teary Squonk is a mythical creature said  to live in the Hemlock forest of northern Pennsylvania.

The first legends the  Squonk originated sometime in the late nineteenth century, at the height of Pennsylvania's importance in the timber industry

The earliest known written account of Squonks comes from a book by William T. Cox called Fearsome Creatures of the Lumberwoods, With a Few Desert and Mountain Beasts.

The legend say's that the creatures skin is loose or  ill fitting,  covered with warts and that, because it is ashamed of its appearance it hides from plain sight, and spends most of its time crying.

Hunters who have tried to capture a squonk have found out the creature is capable of dissolving completely into a pool of tears and bubbles when cornered.

A man named J.T Wentling is supposed to have coaxed the creature into a bag, of which when he carried it home it suddenly lightened. Upon further inspection he found that all that remained was the liquid remains of the sad animal.

The scientific name of the squonk "Lacrimacorpus dissolvens" comes from the Latin words meaning tear, body, and dissolve.

                                                    Poor baby just need's a hug...

American Cryptid: Evil Gnomes

                              ==========Evil Gnomes===============

Today we take a trip to sunny California, beach's sun tans and surfing.

But California is also home to some odd and sometimes not so friendly cryptids, we all know of Bigfoot and a lot of you have probably heard of the Fresno Night Walkers(strange alien like cryptids with very small body's and really long legs - post on them soon)

But what's the first thing you think of when you hear the word Gnome?

For most of us it's those strange little men on your neighbors front lawn keeping a watchful eye on the garden.

But what if that creepy little figure wasn't so inanimate, what if by some slim chance, you happen too see it move....or even worst it tries to attack you.

Gnome's much like fairy's have been seen all over the world in some form or another, there were a few videos from Mexico that appear to show a gnome (duende) or at least a diminutive human like creature, You can still find them on  youtube.

                                                                   ---Duende---

....................................................................

Gnome's are thought to dwell deep within the forests and mountains, making there homes underground or in caves and abandon mine shafts.

Though they have been known to frequent old abandon homes and buildings.

Most are thought of as kind or at least reclusive enough not to be a threat to humans, but just like humans there are good and bad gnomes.

==========================================================================================English Legend's about a vicious and even murderous gnome called a red cap, (They are Very similar to Goblins) this is a gnome you definitely don't want too meet!In the midelages  they would make there homes in old abandon castles and towers and would kill anyone that entered there territory.

They look like a little old man. Are short in stature like all gnomes, have red eyes, sharp teeth and long finger nails and of course a long pointy red hat. the hat's are red because this  vicious  little creature has a nasty habit of dyeing there hats with the blood of there victims.American Indianans speak of legends involving a small and fierce tribe of little people.

                                                ===The Redcaps Gnome-===
===========================================

A burial site unearthed in Tennessee was said too contain at least 100,000, yes -- One Hundred Thousand, full grown body's no more the 3 feet or so in height.

                                            ===Tennessee Fairy Remains===

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

There have been several sightings along the Tully river in California.

These creatures for the most part seem too be some what foul tempered or even malevolent.

One California family experienced this terror first hand.

In 1999 a woman named Tammy Thomas and her family moved into an old farm house with an old unused shed in the back,at one point she began to notice a few of her duck's and other small animals go missing.

She believed there was something in the old shed, but never approached it out of fear of what was possibly inside.

Then one night after returning home from  a trip to the store with her grandson, she was terrified too see what she describes as an "Evil Garden Gnome" cackling in the dark.she grabbed her grandson and and ran to the house, once inside she could still hear noises on the porch and when she opened the curtains and to her horror the creature was staring back at her.

This incident frightened her, and fearing for the safety of herself and her grandchildren she eventually moved to a new home.

However people in that area still claim too see this odd little man from time to time, he is sometimes spotted moving lawn ornaments around in peoples yards, or catching and eating fish from the river or local ponds.

Some even say they hear him singing late at night. Another evil gnome like creature in California is called a Water Baby, it's a water dwelling creature, gnome like in appearance and if angered will sneak into your home and smother you.

They are said to live in the Tully river.California also has sightings of small hairy human like creatures that have been seen running across the road at night, So the next time you take a scenic hike through the forest of the golden state just remember Bigfoot may not be the only cryptid roaming the woods

........................................................................................................

On a side note California has one of the largest clusters of missing people in the country, Yosemite national park seems to be a real active location for disappearance, stay safe and hike/camp responsibly and always ALWAY's let some one know were you are planning on going. For more information on the strange disappearance check out The Missing 411 series by David Palides, very informative and well researched
