Yokai, The Hibagon .. Bigfoot of Japan.

Japanese Bigfoot,The Hibagon 👣🇯🇵

It seems that every country or at least most have a version of a hairy manlike cryptid that roams the forests or mountains ..

North America's Bigfoot/Sasquatch the Rock Apes of Vietnam, the Yeti of the Himalayas and so on..

Well Japan is no exception, the Japanese version is called the Hibagon..

The first reported sighting was in Hiroshima Prefecture in what is now Shobara City during July of 1970.

FIRST SIGHTING...

July 20, 1970, that a man in his 30s said he saw from his car an unusual two-legged creature walking down a mountain road in the Yuki district in the former town of Saijo, now incorporated into the city of Shobara, before it slowly retreated back up the trail after noticing it was being watched.

....

Second and third Sighting..

A man who was cutting grass near his home early in the morning of July 23, three days after the first sighting, claimed to have seen a creature in a grassy area with a "human face."

Another man on July 30 called out to a person whom he believed was a relative walking along a footpath to a rice field, but it turned out to be a "gorilla-type monster.

........

In 1971 the government special office to take reported sightings this continued until about 1975 when the sightings started to drop eventually leading to the office being shutdown there were a total of 29 local sightings from 1970-75.

Later sightings of a similar creature took place  in the neighboring city of Yamano, it was called the yabagon it was sighted infrequently for a few years leading people the believe the Hibagon had simply moved to a new location however the yabagon seemed to have disappeared too as it has not been spotted since 1980.

It's believed to live near Mount Hiba in the Chūgoku Mountains.

Like Bigfoot/Sasquatch the Hibagon walks upright on two legs, standing about 5 -6 feet or up to 1.5 meters tall and very muscular build for it's size.

Eyewitnesses have described the unidentified figure as resembling a gorilla covered in dark brown bristles

Their bodies are completely covered in black, gray, or dark brown hair.

Their faces resemble an inverted triangle, and they have bulging eyes that slant upwards. Their voices resemble a dolphin’s call.

There are many theories on what the hibagon actually was.

Some suggest it was a  large Japanese macaques, black bears, a humans in a suit or possibly an  alien being but no one is entirely sure...

....

The sightings eventually got the attention of the local authority's and media. Leading to a newspaper article..

A former reporter, then Shobara bureau chief of the Chugoku Shimbun, who wrote the article, was quoted in the Hiroshima-based daily as saying, "I didn't take the first call seriously because I thought it was just a hoax, but then I got another call from someone else who gave an eyewitness account."

After meeting separately with the three eyewitnesses to hear and compare their stories, the reporter said all appeared shaken up, with one saying, "I can't live here anymore." Another complained of people accusing him of "faking" the story and not believing him.

.....

A footprint that was cast in 1970

A plaster cast of "footprint" believed to belong to the Hibagon was cast on December 16, 1970 and was kept in the chief's office of the Shobara Police Station, which is part of the Hiroshima Prefectural Police.

the Shobara Police Department has donated the footprint to the tourism association, which moved it to JR Bingo-Saijo Station.

The tourist association used the donation as an opportunity to start recruitment for a "Hibagon Explorers" fan club that has seen about 40 people from around Japan join.

A tour of the mountain road where the first sightings took place was planned for may 2024.

Today the Hibagon has become a symbol of the town, and signs with its  likeness can be seen everywhere.

Texas Dogman/Werewolf.

Dogman in Texas..

First hand werewolf/dogman encounter by an Eye witness from Roscoe Texas

My first encounter was when i was young trying to fall asleep i looked out the window and saw it, out towards the backyard faced my window at the time, now a days i sleep in the basement, back on topic my brother and I always felt nervous looking out that window,. My bed perfectly faced the window at the time the beast was 3 feet away looking into the window, , It had yellow eyes, long snout of a dog, black fur, it face is kinda human subtract the snout and the gnarly long teeth, and fur all over it's face, once it realized I noticed it, it snarled at me quietly through the window and it was a stare down, i slowly pulled the covers over my head. I then proceeded to cry for what felt like forever, then i ran into my parents room crying. telling me it was just a dream.

I thought that for what was like 8 years until my sophomore year in high school when My brother, my friend and I were out fishing. My brother loved peanut butter at the time he brought a plate with a giant serving size spoon glob and some Ritz crackers.

There's a creek back there, surprisingly some decent fish, mostly chub, but there is bullhead, carp, green bellied sunfish, crayfish, snapping turtles, Brown trout but that's really rare to catch there, we sometimes thought it be funny to throw the chub there and leave them there at our favorite spot, A giant Fallen oak tree which acts like a natural bridge across the creek it fell due to the amount weight it was bearing that due to a bad snowstorm.

My friend and i went down stream one summer's day, meanwhile my brother was fishing alone, He went to go take a leak, he left the the food on the other side of the creek, when came back he saw it running off with, he described as more of a Bigfoot, He ran to us hysterical, we just thought he was crazy so started calling him crazy Joey. After that i thought of my run in with something similar at the young age the stare down. Later My friend was busy with lawn work and prepping to move.

I was secretly afraid to go out. Joe decided to come back there a month later, he left by himself i wish i could saw to confirm my story.

But the second time around i believed him for sure. He was catching some fish, his line was all screwed up and took it off his fishing and re-spooled it he ran come because he only had one hook on the pole. He ran back and claimed he the same thing chasing the bird that was wrapped up, he yelled scared it, then ran back home for knife as fast as he can, then cut it free. I seen something similar To my sighting, My brother, my friend and some others were going to fish at a illegal spot we didn't know it was private property at the time, whenever me and my friends try out new spots we have tradition casting bass lures first, then use normal live bait. I wanted to hesitate because the fish were biting there pretty good at the creek. So sure enough they went ahead me across the oak tree towards the quarry.

I felt alone after 12 minutes then i took my bag, 2 poles, and tackle i was changed out close to the log. I started walking and saw what I thought to be a big grey wolf easily waist hight to me being 5.6  In IL anythings possible my friend got cornered by 4 coyotes out there once, But sure enough the creature by another giant oak tree and i made eye contact again another stare down only different since it was on all fours.

It was obviously interested in my friends since it was following the trail that leads there, I yelled and chased it, the look on its face was playful because it was probably pretending not to notice me, so i chased it to the clearing, the retention ponds are on the left and a small prairie on the right. It seemingly went towards the prairie. Sure enough i quickly forgot when one my friends caught a pig of large mouth that weighed 3 1/2 pounds on the first cast. I waited until we were going to leave to inform them because i didn't want ruin the fact we were catching bass on every cast.

But the guard working there gave us a warning told us to get out there and this private property etc. I told them they didn't believe me. The last time we saw something similar, Me and My brother were scavenging for roadkill when saw a Black dog/maybe it look at us ran away constantly back it moved gracefully through the brush meanwhile me and my brother were absolutely getting torn up by the razz berry bushes. We catch up it waits then runs away again, we played this game 5 times with that thing, then we couldn't find it again.

I live Roscoe enjoy being outside i notice strange things out in that woods, people usually just kick the roadkill off the highway it can cause an issue if it's big enough like a deer, but i notice something went out of it's way to drag them out to the prairie coyotes maybe, the thing sure why not, theirs plenty of deer, Turkey, Rabbits, You can even hear the coyotes get excited when they catch a poor rabbit at night

Japaneses myths: The White Butterfly....

                                      The White Butterfly

An old man named Takahama lived in a little house behind the cemetery of the temple of Sozanji. He was extremely amiable and generally liked by his neighbors, though most of them considered him to be a little mad. His madness, it would appear, entirely rested upon the fact that he had never married or showed any  desire for intimate companionship with women.

One summer day he became very ill, so ill, in fact, that he sent for his sister-in-law and her son. They both came and did all they could to bring comfort during his last hours. While they watched, Takahama fell asleep; but he had no sooner done so than a large white butterfly flew into the room and rested on the old man's pillow. The young man tried to drive it away with a fan; but it came back three times, as if loath to leave the sufferer.

At last Takahama's nephew chased it out into the garden, through the gate, and into the cemetery beyond, where it lingered over a woman's tomb, and then mysteriously disappeared. On examining the tomb the young man found the name "Akiko" written upon it, together with a description narrating how Akiko died when she was eighteen. Though the tomb was covered with moss and must have been erected fifty years previously, the boy saw that it was surrounded with flowers, and that the little water tank had been recently filled.

When the young man returned to the house he found that Takahama had passed away, and he returned to his mother and told her what he had seen in the cemetery.

"Akiko?" murmured his mother. "When your uncle was young he was betrothed to Akiko. She died of consumption shortly before her wedding day.

When Akiko left this world your uncle resolved never to marry, and to live ever near her grave. For all these years he has remained faithful to his vow, and kept in his heart all the sweet memories of his one and only love. Every day Takahama went to the cemetery, whether the air was fragrant with summer breeze or thick with falling snow.

Every day he would visit her grave and pray for her happiness, swept the tomb and set flowers there.

When Takahama was dying, and he could no longer perform his loving task, Akiko came for him. That white butterfly was her sweet and loving soul."

Cross in the Sky. ☁️✝️☁️

On Friday April 18th 2025 (Good Friday) people witnessed a cloud shaped like a glowing cross in the night sky over Sydney, Australian.

The cross appeared to be glowing while being lit up by the moonlight breaking through, created a striking and symbolic image that many found moving, especially given the timing that close to Easter.

However, meteorologists trying to rain on everyone's parade claim it was a nothing more then a natural optical phenomenon caused by light interacting with turbulent weather patterns. Whether you see it as a religious sign or simply a beautiful natural effect doesn't matter, it still looks cool.

Solitude ..

Solitude

BY ELLA WHEELER WILCOX

Laugh, and the world laughs with you;

Weep, and you weep alone;

For the sad old earth must borrow its mirth,

But has trouble enough of its own.

Sing, and the hills will answer;

Sigh, it is lost on the air;

The echoes bound to a joyful sound,

But shrink from voicing care.

Rejoice, and men will seek you;

Grieve, and they turn and go;

They want full measure of all your pleasure,

But they do not need your woe.

Be glad, and your friends are many;

Be sad, and you lose them all,—

There are none to decline your nectared wine,

But alone you must drink life’s gall.

Feast, and your halls are crowded;

Fast, and the world goes by.

Succeed and give, and it helps you live,

But no man can help you die.

There is room in the halls of pleasure

For a large and lordly train,

But one by one we must all file on

Through the narrow aisles of pain.

Luna: Goddess of the Moon 🌕

            🌕Moon goddesses 🌕

The moon has captivated humans since the beginning of time.

Every culture in every corner of the globe has some myth or legend regarding it's origin or the god or goddess's that represents it.

Luna the Roman Goddess of the Moon.

Luna is the Roman goddesses of the moon, and her Greek counterparts we're often formed in a triadic manner hence Luna was associated with two further goddesses, Diana and Hecate. Luna was the goddess in heaven and of the full moon (Greek counterpart being Selene), Diana was the goddess on earth and of the halfmoon (Greek Artemis) and Hecate (or Hekate) was the goddess in the underworld and of the dark moon.

Diana was originally a goddess of fertility and was worshipped by women as the giver of fertility and easy births.

She was also the goddess of nature and of hunting.

Hecate was the underworld goddess of magic and witchcraf, she is often linked with Luna and  Diana but is also further association with other goddesses linked to chastity and childbirth such as Prosperina and Juno Lucina, an ancient maternal character. The latter may even have been a more central figure within the triad of moon goddesses with Hecate being a later addition.

The multiple facets of women, femininity and childbirth were believed to be associated with the phases of the moon: the new moon represented the maiden goddess, Diana, always new, virginal, reborn and ready for the hunt whereas the waxing moon increasing in size represented the fertile mother goddess, pregnant with life.

The darkening moon reflected the wise crone or witch, Hecate, with power to heal and transform.and Luna being a literal representation of the moon and sky in all it's beauty.

🌖🌕🌘

HEKATE (Hecate) was the guardian of the crossways and goddess of magic, witchcraft, the night, moon, ghosts and necromancy. She was the only child of the Titanes Perses and Asteria from whom she received her power over heaven, earth, and sea. She also represents the Maiden, Mother and Croon with statues often showing three faces.

The Romans believed that the moon controlled many other facets of  life including the wind, rain, tides, animal life, mineral growth and earthquakes. Suetonius (Roman historian AD69 - AD122) wrote The moon is a great magnet of vapour and all substances characterised by moisture. When the moon grows so do all fruits, and as it was, so they also shrink

Luna was also believed to have the power to mask reality, to pierce illusion, to awaken intuition and to spark visions. This latter arising from association of the night and the moon with dreams.

She was also known as a patron of solutions which came to people in dreams, when the subconscious mind processes information.

🌕Other Moon Goddess's 🌕

Rhiannona A Welsh, Celtic Goddess of the moon, horse's fertility rebirth and forgiveness.

Devana, A Slavic Moon Goddess also associate with nature, forests and hunting. She the equivalent of the Greek goddess Artemis and the Roman goddess Diana.

Selene Titan goddess and personification of the moon. She was depicted as a woman riding sidesaddle on a horse or driving a chariot drawn by a pair of winged horse's

Goddess Myeongwol; Korean goddess of the moon her beauty shins brightest during the full moon.

Chang'e Originally known as Heng'e, is the goddess of the Moon and wife of Yi, the great archer. Renowned by her beauty, Chang'e is also known for her ascending to the moon with her pet Yu Tu, the Moon Rabbit and living in the Moon

These are only a few of the more well known goddess's. But there are So many more. I will do separate posts on some of the other later.

Yokai,The Ippondatara

The Ippondatara is a famous one legged Yokai that haunts the mountains of Japan.

In some villages, its  considered to be a cousin  to the kappa called gōrai who leave their river homes in in winter then transform from river yokai into mountain spirits called kashambo until they return to the rivers in spring.

This one legged Yokai tends to keep to itself and is relatively harmless with the exception of December 20th, once per year on this day it turns very violent and will kill any human it encounters.

. Those entering the mountains on December 20th and are unlucky enough to run into the ippondatara are immediately attacked and squashed squashed by  its powerful foot. Because of this, December 20th is considered an unlucky day in the areas where this yōkai lives and people (at least the  ones) stay out of the mountains on that day.

It's name comes from the man powered bellows that a blacksmith would use before the industrialization of the smithies shops  because this yōkai resembles a master blacksmith who lost the use of one eye from years of starting at the bright flames, and has one large leg from years of heavy work pumping the bellows.

It seems to prefer the mountains near Wakayama and Nara Prefectures (old Kii and Yamato Provinces), though it has also been sighted have other neighboring prefectures .

Some believe it's possibly the ghost of a famous one-legged, one-eyed robber named Hitotsudatara who lived in the mountains of Wakayama and had supernatural strength.

Others think it may be a former mountain kami (God/powerful nature Spirit) that became  corrupted over time and transformed into a yōkai. The  one eyed appearance is a well known feature on  mountain spirits, and other one-eyed yōkai like the hitotsume kozō that was originally a mountain kami.

Korean Urban Legend: The Jangsan Tiger 🐯

🇰🇷The Jangsan Tiger 🐯

Korean mythology often depicts the tiger as a guardian or protector, especially a white tiger which is seen as a a symbol of bravery and wisdom.

However there is nothing benevolent about the tiger in this urban legend .

The Jangsan tiger, or Jangsan beom, is an Urban Legend about a frightening supernatural tiger or tiger like creature that originated in  South Korean in 2010.

It was first reported in September 2010. It has  been sighted multiple times in Busan. Other sightings in the Haeundae District of Busan were reported in June 2012. Sightings have also been reported  around, or near Gyeongju, Gyeongsan, Changnyeong and Incheon.

According to the legend,  it  lives on or near Jangsan mountain in Busan.

It's most well know for it's ability to perfectly mimic human voices, especially a woman's cry/scream, to lure it's victims into the mountains then attacking them. In some versions it can mimic a person's appearance as well as they're voice.

This cryptid walks on all fours and can move fast on most terrain even steep hills, it has long, white fur, very sharp teeth, and claws,  longer front legs, short back legs and depending on which version of the story you hear it can  resemble a tiger, dog, sloth or lion.

It's main hunting strategy is  its vocal mimicry to used to trick people and lure them into the forest so it can  attack.

The legend is specifically tied to Jangsan mountain in Busan, Though it's not an actual cryptid as there are no sightings or mention of it before 2010 so as of this writing it's considered an Urban Legend.

The story has gained enough popularity to become an movie....

"The Mimic" (2017).

Korean Myth: Jeoseung Saja.

The Jeoseung Saja..저승사자💀

The Korean Grim Reaper/ Messenger of Death.

In Korean mythology, the god of death is known as Yeomra (also spelled Yeomra-Daewang).

He is the fifth of the ten Kings of the Underworld, collectively known as Shi-wang, and is considered the supreme ruler of the afterlife.

Yeomra's main role is to judge the sins of the deceased and determine their fate in the afterlife. He is the Korean equivalent of Yama, the Hindu and Buddhist god of death.

Though he is not alone in this role,he has servants that collect the souls and bring them to the afterlife/underworld.

The Jeoseung Saja," or the traditional Korean Grim Reaper.

Depicted as a  pale-faced man, draped in black robes and wearing a gat, a traditional Korean hat made of horsehair and silk.

The modern look is a bit different then the original version, According to the Encyclopedia of Korean Culture by Kim Deok-mook, the jeoseung saja originally appeared in shamanistic rituals as a military officer, dressed in official armor.

Even though he is frightening (a literal grim reaper ), he was not treated with hostility. In traditional funerary rites, he's regarded with respect.

“Since the reaper also serves as a guide through the long and difficult journey to the afterlife, mistreating him could bring misfortune to the deceased,” That’s why families treat him with care during rituals.”

In a traditional funerary ritual from Hwanghae Province, families prepare three bowls of rice, three pairs of straw shoes, and three sets of spoons and chopsticks. These offerings are meant to honor the three reapers guiding the soul from this world to the next .

Well the western Grim Reaper is seen  as a solitary figure, his Korean counterpart can very  in the number of reapers

.....

In many paintings from the Joseon era he is depicted wearing bright red armor. Instead of the black / darker clothes we usually associate with death.

The Joseon dynasty, also known as the Yi dynasty, was the last and longest-ruling Korean dynasty, lasting from 1392 to 1897. It was founded by Yi Seong-gye, who established the capital in Hanyang, (modern day ) Seoul.

The word Saja can also mean lion.

In the 2016  Korean Drama-  K-drama "Goblin" (also called  "Guardian: The Lonely and Great God"), the show features a popular character, played by Lee Dong-wook, who is a Jeoseung Saja, showcasing a more humanized version of the traditional Grim Reaper figure.

(Goblin info)..In his quest for a bride to break his immortal curse, Dokkaebi, a 939-year-old guardian of souls, encounters a grim reaper and a student with a tragic past

In a more recent depiction they were demons on the Netflix hit Kpop Demon Hunters, though in the actual lore they are more akin to afterlife government workers.

Paranormal: The Hum 🤔

Have you heard the Hum?

Some do, Most don't....

The Hum is an odd low frequency droning or rumbling sound that has no definitive origins.

It's been heard around the world for decades now, but can only be heard by a small fraction of the global population.

The Hum has been reported world wide, however for some reason certain areas like Taos, New Mexico and Windsor, Ontario, have become particularly known for their localized Hum phenomena, often referred to as the "Taos Hum" or "Windsor Hum.

Explanations for it's source have ranged from Power Plants, High voltage power lines, cell towers, radio waves tinnitus or even paranormal activity like aliens or psychic/spiritual powers

Though to this day it's true source is unknown...

Locations the Hum has been reported in

Russian Soldiers turned to stone.

Deadly UFO encounter.

During the late 80's a group of Soviet soldiers and a terrifying  encounter a downed UFO and it's occupants leaving only two survivers.

In the late 1980s a group of Soviet soldiers  encountered a low-flying, saucer-shaped UFO during a training mission in Siberia,  One soldier fired a missile at the object, causing it to crash.

Soon after  five small, humanoid beings with large heads and black eyes (grey aliens👽) reportedly emerged from the wreckage, then somehow merged into a single, spherical object that emitted a bright flash of light.

All solder's hit by this light ( 23 soldiers ) were turned into stone,  leaving only two survivors who happened to be in a shaded area.

The KGB seized the petrified soldiers and wreckage of the ET ship, taking them to a secret base near Moscow. Soviet scientists allegedly found the soldiers' bodies had turned into a substance similar to limestone.

This incident was detailed in a 250-page KGB report, which was reportedly obtained by the CIA after the Soviet Union's fall.

A declassified CIA document, summarizing newspaper articles, included a quote from a CIA representative calling the report "a horrific picture of revenge on the part of extraterrestrial creatures".

The CIA concluded that if true, it would be an "extremely menacing case" due to the aliens' advanced weapons and technology.

Irish Lore, The Blarney Stone .

The Blarney Stone.

🇮🇪 🪨☘️

The Blarney castle was built by Cormac Laidir MacCarthy, the 9th Lord of Muskerry, who also founded the nearby Friary  and Carrignamuck castle.

Blarney castle is located in Blarney, County Cork Ireland and is perhaps one of the most famous castle's on the emerald isle, it was Built as a military stronghold by Cormac Láidir MacCarthy / MacCárthaigh in 1446 and is home to the magic stone known world wide as the Blarney Stone.

It has become so popular throughout the years that now millions of  tourists come from all over the world just  to kiss the stone each year.

The word "blarney" originated  during the 16th century when the lord's of Blarney Castle,  the MacCarthy clan, used clever  words to stall Queen Elizabeth I's demands for the castle and territory.

Kissing the Blarney Stone is believed to grant you  the ability to speak persuasively and eloquently to anyone, this ability is known as the "gift of the gab" The term "blarney" itself refers to skillful flattery or misleading talk.

The stone is a large piece of limestone at the top of the castle, which is set in the wall below the battlements.

Tourists that want to kiss the stone or assisted by a guide to lean over backwards and kiss it(there is safety railings in place as well).

There are a few different origin stories regarding the magical stone.

Some believe the stone received it's magic by Titania the Queen of the Faeries, who told the MacCarthy clan to kiss it for answers.

.........

Religious stories surrounding the stone.

Some claim the stone is the Stone of Jacob from the Old Testament and that it was brought to Ireland by the Prophet Jeremiah.

Another story tells that the Blarney Stone served as a deathbed pillow for the legendary St Columba — the saint credited with spreading Christianity throughout Scotland. Some claim, that the stone was taken from Scotland and brought to Ireland.

A less biblical, story suggests that the stone was part of the Stone of Scone (also known as the ‘Stone of Destiny’) — a legendary block of stone used in the coronation ceremony of Scottish Kings.

It is believed that Scottish hero Robert the Bruce give the stone to the MacCarthy chieftain as a token of gratitude for supporting the Irish in the Battle of Bannockburn.

Brazilian Myth: Yara/Lara.

Lara..

Mãe das Águas

 mother of the waters

Lara also Know as the “Lady of the Waters, or Mother of the waters” is most often depicted as an attractive yet very  dangerous  and seductive mermaid-like cryptid from Brazil.

She lives in the rivers and lagoons, where she sings her haunting songs to attract the local fisherman  using her beautiful voice and good looks to call them to their deaths, similar to Greek sirens.

with the combined beauty of her voice and seductive figure she easily lures  men into the water where they seldom return. The few that do manage to escape her are haunted by her otherworldly songs for the rest of their life often driven to madness.

In most  versions of this myth she lures men who fell under her spell into the water to drown them.

In other variants her spell  would compel him to simply leave everything he had  behind and live with her underwater forever because of her beauty ...though in this kinder version she is  said to be a very loving and attentive wife and would love him for  the rest of his life.

However she is   immortal and will spend most of eternity alone. (Humans only live so long).

In yet another versions

She was a beautiful young warrior-woman, skilled in combat and the art of  war though she lives  in a patriarchal tribe, she eventually gained the admiration of the entire tribe and even her father the chief respected her ability, however her brothers grew jealous of her and  decided to murder her during the night.

According to this version she defended herself from her brother's and accidentally killed them in the process upon discovering he's sons dead , her father became furious at her.

She fled to the jungle  but was eventually captured and punished for her brothers death's, by being drowned in the river.

A different ending to this version  claims the brothers  killed her the nigh of the attack and dumped her body in the river then  blamed the night goddess, Jaci, for her disappearance.

In both versions she ends up in the river, And is turned into a mermaid   by the nearby fish on the night of a full moon or by Jaci.

Now  she takes her revenge on all men by seducing them and drowning them in the river.

Some claim even being near her territory is enough to drive a man crazy and make him want to enter the water.

Ghostly Folklore: Dames Blanches 🇫🇷👻

Dames Blanches.

🇫🇷🌉👻

In French folklore there is a ghost like woman often seen near bridge's or alleys.

Her name is Dame Blanche .

The most common version of the legend says she would stop someone and ask them to join her in dance or assist her in a certain way in order to pass. If the passerby offered her assistance, she would make him courtesies and disappear,  if he refused to play along with her request, he would meet an unfortunate end.

The name Dames Blanche translates to  “White Ladie / Ladies”

She is a supernatural entity most often thought to be a spirit though some believe she may infact be a type of fay .

She can be seen near near caverns, ravines, bridges and other narrow places where she can attract the attention of people passing by.

In France, the Dames Blanches are most  popular in  Lorraine and Normandy and were said to appear in Occitan, the Pyrenees mountains with various other sightings throughout the country.

The Dames Blanches have similar counterparts in name and characterization in Germany she's called  Weiße Frauen and in  Dutch she's  the Witte Wieven.

She may also have ancient connections to a pre Christian guardian goddesses known as the Matres,  specifically the Dominæ, who watched over the home, perhaps became the Dames of folklore.

.........

Thomas Keightley (1870) describes the Dames Blanches as a type of Fae known in Normandy "who are of a less benevolent character." They lurk in narrow places such as ravines, forest, and on bridges and try to attract passerby attention. They may require one to join in her dance or assist her in order to pass.

If assisted she "makes him many courtesies, and then vanishes." One such Dame was known as La Dame d'Apringy who appeared in a ravine at the Rue Quentin at Bayeux in Normandy, where one must dance with her a few rounds to pass.

Those who refused were thrown into the thistles and briar, while those who danced were not harmed. Another Dame was known on a narrow bridge in the district of Falaise, named the Pont d'Angot. She only allowed people to pass if they went on their knees to her. Anyone who refused was tormented by the lutins(a type of hobgoblin), cats, owls, and other creatures who helped her.

The Mavka 🌳🌲 ☠️

The Mavki is a Russian/ Slavic forest  creatures that haunts the caves  and forest of the countryside most popular in Ukraine.

The Mavki (singular: mavka) are typically forest spirits though  in some versions she is a type of rusalka

According to the myth any girl who drown themselves because of an unhappy love life become rusalka similarly any young women that dies a tragic or premature death may become a mavka.

Mavkas  live in the forests, mountains, or caves, they are young attractive often naked female spirits described as  tall with round faces and long hair .

They decorating their homes with rugs and weav thin, almost transparent clothes from stolen flax. They are also known for their love of flowers, which they wear in their hair and plant in the mountains to lure young men in.

Is  some beliefs, a man could also become a rusalka: in the Sosnytsia Raion of the Chernihiv Oblast it's believed that men and women can become one of these spirits if they died on Trinity week.

According to myth, they are similar to if not a variant of rusalki or mavki

Both are depicted as beautiful young women with green moss or reed colored hair, though a more malevolent version of the Mavka is  sometimes said to have  no back or a  transparent back through which all of their internal organs were visible (those were more often called nyavka).

Like rusalka that lure men into a watery death, the Mavka will lure men into the woods, where she tickles him to death or tangles him in her long hair and drown him

On Pentecost (Navka's Easter), Mavkas are said to hold celebration, dances, and orgies, accompanied by a demon playing a flute or pipes. To save an unbaptized baby's soul, one must throw up a kerchief during Pentecost, say their name, and add "I baptise you

....

It may be safer to just stay out of the woods and away from creeks and rivers all together lol

Tennessee, Class A bigfoot encounter

First hand account from Lawrenceburg TN.

......

My husband and I saw a what we believe to be a Sasquatch on the night of June 12, 2021. We were driving home together with our daughter at approximately 9:30 PM when we turned onto our street. Mind you, we live in the deep country side outside of Lawrenceburg Tennessee.

My husband turned the wheel slightly to turn onto our street and there was an animal with fingers touching something on the ground, picking at it with its fingers. When the animal saw our headlights turning, it intentionally averted the headlights and ducked underneath them.

It was only about five feet from the front of our vehicle at one point when we turned toward it. It was fully in the headlights.

The animal bounded across our neighbors yard. It did not run on two feet the way a human would. We thought the animal was a gorilla at first because of its movements but it looked extremely human like. It bounded with its front legs in the same way that a gorilla does except it’s arms were so long and it moved unbelievably fast.

Of course we considered that it could have been a person dressed in a hairy costume but it moved way too fast to be a person. It was definitely not a bear. It was more like a gorilla or person covered with hair. It was covered in dark brown or black hair.

The animal cleared our neighbors 250-300 foot grass lawn in about six seconds and then it disappeared from view. Our daughter who is four did not see the animal as she was playing on her iPad.

When we pulled up to our house a minute later I was absolutely terrified to get out of the vehicle because we had no idea what we had seen, and because it was so fast that it could have turned around and been to our house in about 10 seconds.

I got up the courage to run to my house door and unlocked it and we all ran inside. We were terrified.

We both saw the animal, however it was my husband who saw that it had fingers and it was observing something on the ground. I did not see that part. I just saw the part where it started to run and when it cleared our neighbors lawn.

We had considered that maybe it was a bear but it was too ape like to have been a bear and it was too fast and slim and did not run on all four of its legs exactly the way a bear would have.

Viking Folklore: Margygr

Viking Folklore: Margygr the Norse mermaid.
🛶🧜‍♀️🌊

In Norse mythology, the margygr is a large mermaid like creature that's believed to live off the coast of Greenland.
Unlike later mermaid legends where the mermaid is beautiful,  this creature is described as either unnerving and hideous or strikingly beautiful both and forms always leaves it's witness's in aw/shock.

Like most mermaid sightings the Margygr is a human fish hybrid, most of the time she has the top half of a beautiful  large breasted long haired woman with webbed hands with a fish like appearance from the waist down, though she is much larger then a normal mermaid.

In other accounts she's described as a giant terrifying and grotesque creature.
Margygr translates to "Sea Giantess" or "Sea spirit".

The Vikings considered these being to be more of a force of nature or powerful spirit then an actual creature, some would even pray to it for a safe voyage before they set sail.
Sightings are rare, but when it is  spotted it's always  before a powerful storm and can be either beneficial and helpful to sailors or harmful and violent.  .

skogsrå, the Foxy forest nymph

The northern forest's of Scandinavia are cold and dark, they are also home to many mysterious creatures Gnomes, Trolls, Giants, elves ect.

But there's another creatures that haunts these wood, as deadly as she is beautiful...

The skogsrå.

The skogsrå is a swedish version of the huldra.

,............

She most often  appears as a beautiful young woman with  a friendly attitude.

From the front she looks like a normal woman but  from behind she usually has ether a fox or cow tail sicking out of her skirt/dress and a hollow back (but not always).

More often than not, the men that follow her into the forest are never seen again.

In some folktales any man  that had sex with her and returned would be like a hollow shell of his former self as his soul remained with her.

However if the  man is a hunter or someone that was kind to her, he may be rewarded with good luck in the hunt or fishing trip but should he ever be unfaithful to her, he will be struck with extreme bad luck and  accidents. In some cases the bad luck may end if the hunter fires a shot into the woods.

Nyland, Finland Folklore says firing  silver bullets  can kill a skogsrå

In Norway, the word huldrefolk or huldre (plural)  comes from Old Norse huldr meaning ‘hidden’ it's used for all kinds of supernatural creatures. Hulder, or Huldra in the singular, signifies a female forest spirit, though she may also appear in mountains.

These forest spirits act alone, instead of in.large group's or families like other supernatural beings, like the vittra. In northern Sweden, the name vittra refers to a group of supernatural beings that lives underground that have many traits in common with fairies from folklore of the British Isles, as well as with the ellefolk in Danish tradition or the huldrefolk /Hilda folk in Norwegian tradition.

Finland also has a version of the Huldra/ skogsrå, Some names in the Finnish language, mainly from the west coast, also show a link to the Swedish traditions, metsänpiika ‘forest girl’ or metsänneito ‘forest maid’ are the most often used names for the female forest spirit. However, there are also other localised names such as haapaneitsyt ‘aspen-maid’ or sinipiika ‘blue maid’.

Her other Swedish names are  skogsrå, skogsrådan, skogsråa ‘forest ruler’, råan, rådande ‘the ruler,/the ruling spirit’, skogsjungfru ‘forest maiden’, skogsfru, skogssnuva ‘forest woman’, skogskäringen ‘the forest hag’, or with a nickname such as Grankotte–Maja ‘Spruce cone-Maja’, Talle-Maja ‘Pine tree-Maja’. She is also known by many different local variants like.. Gonna, Besta, Rånda, Skogela, Lanna-frökna ‘The lady of Lanna’ or Ysäters-Kajsa ‘Kajsa of Ysäter’. On the island of Gotland, there are records of a female troll called Torspjäska that plays the same role and has the same function as forest spirit on the mainland.      Germany has a legend of a long-haired beautiful fores spirits too,.  Called  Holzfräulein ‘the tree lady’, who was dressed in leaves, or as Moosweiblein ‘the moss woman’.

If you're heading into the woods soon, be weary of any beautiful strangers that may approach you ......

 🖤💕Also Happy Valentines Day.💕🖤
