Cross in the Sky. ☁️✝️☁️

On Friday April 18th 2025 (Good Friday) people witnessed a cloud shaped like a glowing cross in the night sky over Sydney, Australian.

The cross appeared to be glowing while being lit up by the moonlight breaking through, created a striking and symbolic image that many found moving, especially given the timing that close to Easter. 

However, meteorologists trying to rain on everyone's parade claim it was a nothing more then a natural optical phenomenon caused by light interacting with turbulent weather patterns. Whether you see it as a religious sign or simply a beautiful natural effect doesn't matter, it still looks cool.

Japanese Yokai: Gashadokuro 💀

This Yokai is the physical manifestation of human regret, hunger and death.

The Gashadokuro is a towering monstrous skeleton formed from the grudge and regret of those that have died on the battle field or from starvation. It's body is made from the Bones of countless dead  individuals.

The earliest record of a gashadokuro goes back over 1000 years to a bloody rebellion against the central government by a samurai named Taira no Masakado. 

His daughter Takiyasha hime was a famous sorceress. When Masako was eventually killed for his revolt, his daughter continued his cause. Using her dark magic, she summoned a massive skeleton from the bodies of dead soldiers to attack the city of Kyōto. Her monster is depicted in a famous print by Utagawa Kuniyoshi.

In another vision of the story the Gashadokuro is formed from soldiers whose bodies are left to rot in the fields and victims of famine who die unknown in the villages or off in the wilderness and don't receive a proper funeral, unable to pass on, their souls linger as vengeful spirits these people die with anger and pain in their hearts. 

That energy remains long after their flesh has rotted away, As their bodies decay, their anger ferments into a grudge against the living, which twists them into a supernatural force. When the bones of hundreds or thousands of victims gather together into one mass, they form the giant, skeletal monster. This Yokai existence will last for however the rage and regret in the bone s it's made of still lingers. They are most often found around graveyards mass Graves or battlefields where there are a large mass of dead bodies or death.

This Yokai wanders around the countryside in the late hours of the night. Their teeth chatter and bones rattle with the “gachi gachi” sound. 

However they aren't always noisy. If they spot a human out late on the roads, the gashadokuro will silently sneak up and catch their victims, crushing them in their hands or biting off their head.

Be careful of you're next night walk you definitely don't want to run into one of these guy's... 💀👻

Japanese Yokai The Kejoro / keyuro

 

A kejōrō’s / keyuro is a Yokai that's most often seen around the red light district near brothels.

The name literally means Hair hooker / hairy prostitute..

Hair(ke) Hooker(joro)

Sometimes spelled yuro..

Her victims are the  men who frequent brothels.

As the story goes,.... A man will see a woman from  behind, he approaches her but when she turns around, her face and body are covered in thick hair, hiding her face. 

Once her victim is shocked by the sight before him, she takes this moment to attack, tangling him up in her hair and using it to slice and cut him up. Though kejōrō-related fatalities are very rare despite the many cuts.

Though her appearance to humans may be somewhat frightening, male Yokai find her very attractive.

In fact she is so popular that male yokai will Often  fight  for her affection.

 Kejōrō sometimes   return this devotion by cutting off some of her hair and sending it to her lover (human or yokai), or tattoo his name into her skin to prove her  love to him.

The earliest records of a kejōrō go back to Toriyama Sekien’s “One Hundred Demons of the Past and Present.” There is some debate over his original description as to whether the kejōrō has a normal face under the matte of hair, or whether she is a faceless monster, related to the nopperabō or the ohaguro-bettari, with various yokai researches weighing in on either side of the question.

In the original stories she's a prostitute whose face and body are hidden behind a curtain of long, black hair. She appears in red-light districts and brothels. In most stories, its only the hair on her head that is abnormally thick and long, but in other versions, her whole body is covered in thick hair, like an animal.

Her appearance is still disputed some say she's a woman with a lot of hair that drapes over her body, others claim she's a strange creature made entirely of hair with no body underneath . She has been depicted both ways, largely at the personal preference of the artist .

The most common telling of the story and the earliest records of the kejōrō go back to Toriyama Sekien’s “One Hundred Demons of the Past and Present

A man is venturing into the Yoshiwara red light district one evening, when he sees a prostitute walking down the street. From the rear, he recognizes her as one of his favorites, and so rushes up to claim her. When she turns around, she reveals her entire body is made up of hair, with no skin visible. “

Toriyama may have been influenced by a similar monster from Chinese mythology, called the Hair Woman (毛女). The Hair Woman is also made up entirely of hair, although she does not have the same connection to the red light district and prostitution. She comes from an old Chinese book投轄録 (Tou Xia Lu-Yu Zhao Xin Zhi; A Grand View of Literary Sketchbooks in the Past Dynasties) and it is not know if Toriayama was familiar with her or not when creating the Kejoro.

More likely Toriyama was making some sort of commentary on the red light district, or playing word games with popular slang of the time. On the adjacent page to the Kejoro of the Konjaku Gazu Zoku Hyakki is another prostitute-turned-yokai, the Aonyobu (青女房; Blue Wife). “Blue Wife” was a derogatory term for a woman who had contracted the kidney disease jinkyo (腎虚; renal ischemia), and it is possible that “Kejoro” was a similar insult that Toriyama turned into Yokai.

Frank Shaw - a NASA archivist at Houston's Johnson Space Center - claimed to have had a terrifying night time encounter with an ominous creature . 

 There is very little information available for this encounter, however Shaw's daughter, Desiree, would eventually reveal  details of her father's sighting  to author Nick Redfern in 2004. Desiree testified that she first realized that something was dreadfully wrong when her father returned home late one night after working at the space center. While neither Desiree, nor her mother, were particularly alarmed by Shaw's tardiness - as he often was required to work into the wee hours - they were both dismayed by his alarmingly apprehensive demeanor. The pair attempted to comfort Shaw, who was eventually able to compose himself enough to regale them with a terrifying tale of his brush with the unknown. ...

The Interview..

April  9 2004..

Redfern interview with  Desiree Shaw, Frank’s daughter. According to Desiree, her father (who was an archivist, not an engineer), saw the gargoyle in 1986. Redfern described the encounter in his book based on Desiree’s recollections of her deceased father’s tale.

While walking to his car that night, he had seen, to his complete and utter horror; perched on a nearby building, a large man-like figure that was utterly black in color, and that seemed to have a large cape draped across its shoulders and back, with two huge wing-like appendages sticking out of the cape. Looking more bat-like than bird-like, the wings made a cracking noise as they slowly flapped in the strong howling wind. The creature . . . had clearly realized it had been seen. Not only that, Shaw gained the very distinct impression that the beast was actually relishing that it had been noticed, and was even seemingly deriving pleasure from the fact that it had struck terror into the heart of Shaw.

Thought not surprisingly NASA claims to know nothing about this sighting..

...Sorry, never heard of it, and I’ve been here 37 years (since 1986),” read the one-sentence reply from Kelly O. Humphries, Johnson Space Center News Chief....

As Frank crossed the parking lot on the way to his car when he happened to throw a glance at one of the nearby buildings. Sitting on top of the building was a monstrous creature which Shaw could only describe as resembling one of the gargoyles which adorn many churches and other buildings dating from Europe’s medieval period. Shaw quickly realised that the gargoyle was staring directly at him, and had the distinct impression that it was taking great pleasure in the terror that it had instilled in him.

After a few moments of staring at each other, the gargoyle began to slowly unfurl its large wings with a sound like dried paper; this act seemed to break the almost hypnotic state that Shaw had been in, and he ran to his car and fled the scean.

Although initially reluctant to report what he had seen to his superiors, the effect of this encounter on Shaw began to get the better of him, and he eventually told  his story to one of his supervisors. Though to his surprise, he  was informed that the gargoyle had been sighted by other employees at the Johnson facility, and was in fact believed to have been behind the brutal mutilation and exsanguination of a pair of the bases’ German Shepherd guard dogs. He was also told that a secret file had been opened on the entity, but if such a document exists it has never been made available to the public.

After making his report and moving on with his daily life,he believing this to be the end of his ordeal, So it came as a surprise when he was called  in for a Talk with "NASA security people flown in from somewhere in Arizona,” who proceeded to interrogate him intensively on his experience and make it very clear that he and his family would do well to keep the matter to themselves (see "Men in Black"). This may be the reason why this encounter has taken so long to come to public attention.

To this day, NASA have neither confirmed nor denied the existence of the creature sighted by Shaw and the other employees.

Paranormal Russia: The Kamchatka time traveler.

On November 8th 1997 a navel officer disappeared in Kamchatka, the last time he was seen was two hours before the end of his watch and he was listed as AWL with a weapon

The officer was found in the mountains two months later and was just a skeleton but there was no sighs of bite marks on the bone's from wild animals.. and the uniform

he was wearing just looked old but was not damaged or torn the remains were taken to Petropavlovsk Kamchatsky for an autopsy / examination....

Apparently Radio Carbon dating said the bone's and the uniform belonged to a 30 year old man but that he had died at least 160 years ago....

The case is still unsolved and unexplained, and is one of the more well know cases of possible Time Travel...

There's a lot of Yeti sightings in Russia, and one famous possible attack took place in the 1950's called the Dyatlov Pass incident all the hiker's/ skiers

were found dead ...killed in a brutal fashion but no one knows what actually killed them..

In 2012 lab's in Moscow, St. Petersburg and Idaho analyzed DNA from a clump of fur that had been found in the Azass Cave in Mount Shoriya and confirmed that

the hair samples from the cave belonged an unknown spices neither ape or man. Possible Yeti dna...

There are a lot of UFO sightings in Russia, and the Siberian Explosion in 1916, (One of the largest explosions in history comparable to a nuclear blast )

and it's still unknown what cased it...

Also there are large tunnels in the Medveditskaya Ridge  and in Zhirnovsk District of Volgograd Region.

Another interesting place is Bolshoy Zayatski Island it has series of ancient Labyrinths that are believed to date back as far as 30,000 B.C. or roughly 32, 000 years ago the island is on the far North west region of Russian not too far from Scandinavia...

First hand account...

I believe it was in June of 2003 when I was fishing on the Breitenbush River approximately 4 miles upstream from Detroit, OR. The river flows through a fairly steep gorge at this point. Because of a hip replacement I had less than a year before, I moved very slowly and deliberately down to the river. The weather was clear and the ground dry. 

The river is approximately 50 ft wide, swift, and could be as deep as 10 feet. I had been fishing for about 15 minutes when I heard a loud branch snap across the river. In retrospect, I would say the snap sounded like a dry 3-inch branch snapping. 

I placed the sound about 20 feet up the bank. Since I was armed and very immobile with my bad hip, I decided to continue fishing. My thought was that there was a bear or elk in the thick brush. I kept an eye on the other bank but soon lost interest. I then heard a second loud snap similar to the first. Now, whatever it was had my attention. There was something big across the river in the brush. However, I was armed and separated by the river. I continued to fish with my eye on the other side.

As I continously scanned the area, I observed what I first thought was a man move from right to left through a clearing near the source of the sound. 

The sighting lasted only about 3 seconds. There was no sound as "it" moved. My actual thought was, "Oh, there's a man over there." I then thought, "Damn', he was one big..." I was approximately 25 yards away when I saw "it". As my mind digested the information I realized that what I saw had the profile of a sasquatch. I remember a barrel chest, no neck, and it was bi-pedal.

I climbed back over the hill to my car to drive over to the other side. No way could I cross directly. Approximately one quarter of a mile upstream, I found a place to park and a path. The path along the river was well above the point where I spotted "it". Because of my hip, I could not cut through the brush to the river. There was no lower path.

Long ago, a samurai named Higuchi Kandayū ignored the villagers’ warnings and went hunting with his retainers on Mount Tōkō on the ninth day of the month. On the trail, a beautiful woman around seventeen or eighteen years old appeared before him. She pointed a finger and laughed at him. 

As she laughed, her voice grew higher, and louder, and fiercer. Soon it seemed to Kandayū that the entire mountain was laughing at him. The trees, the rocks, the rivers, and even the wind seemed to echo her laughter. Kandayū and his retainers fled in terror, and when they finally exited the mountains, his retainers all fainted. Although he escaped successfully, Kandayū was haunted by that laughter, which echoed in his ears until he died.





The  Warai onna or Laughing Woman is a Yokai that resides in the mountains of the island of Shikoku.

The legend of the Warai onna come's from the folklore of Kōchi Prefecture. 

 

They only appear in the mountains on certain days: the first, ninth, and seventeenth days of every month. Because of this, locals will warn others to stay out of the mountains on those days.

As far as appearances, she looks just like any other average young women in her late teens or very early twenty's.

Her laughter can be heard late into the night by travelers who find themselves in the mountains after sunset.


Those that dare to tread into her mountains take thire chances and hope for the best. Those unfortunate enough to meet a warai onna run thr rist of
permanent madness or even death.

She will smile and laugh at a person when they meet. 

However her laughter is infectious, and often causes those who see her to laugh along too.

 Though, even after she leaves, the people who laughed along with her will continue to do so, to the point of sever laughter leaving them rolling on the ground laughing until
they are out of breath and unable to even stand. These is followed by  a sever  fever which, after a few days, will kill the victims.


Even those who somehow resist laughing along with her are not safe. Just hearing her laughter is enough to induce psychosis.  

 

They begin to hear a mocking laughter. Those who survive an encounter are still doomed to hear her laughter everywhere for the rest of their lives.



There is a male equivalent to the warai onna , called the warai otoko. They behave exactly the same way as warai onna.

A kerakera onna (“cackling woman”) has almost the exact same features as warai onna, except she only appears in red light districts not the  mountains.

American Cryptids, The Beast of Busco

The Beast of Busco is a cryptid legend from Churubusco, Indiana.

The Beast of Busco aka Oscar by all accounts is a very large  snapping turtle first seen in 1898,
However despite a month long hunt in 1949, the "Beast of Busco" was never found.

The Beast of Busco also called Oscar in honor of the original eyewitness in Churubusco,
Indiana, is a giant snapping turtle that lived in a seven acre lake.

According to legend, one day in 1898  a farmer named Oscar Fulk saw what he described as a giant turtle living in the seven-acre lake on his farm  near Churubusco.

He told others residence about the creature, but eventually just decided to leave it alone.

Then fifty years later  in July, 1948, two Churubusco citizens, Ora Blue and Charley Wilson, reported
seeing a huge alligator snapping turtle (weighing an estimated 500 +pounds) while fishing on the same lake,  that at this point had been named Fulk Lake.

A farmer named Gale Harris now owned the land.

Harris and several others reported seeing the creature.

News about this strange massive beast soon spread, and several expeditions were held to try and capture the big beast  or at least remove it from the the lake.

Methods  included draining and motor boating the lake and diving with no success, many believe he still lurks beneath the waves of that small  lake others claim he has moved to newer waters  the Beast of Busco.

So what was Oscar ? was there really a massive turtle or turtle like creature in that lake?

Many people claim the Beast of Busco never really existed and the story was just Oscar's (the farmer not the turtle) way of making his small town a bit more lively.

Today, Oscar is honored in the turtle days festival each June.

It includes a parade, carnival and even turtle races.

A turtle shell labeled "Beast of Busco" hangs in the Two Brothers Restaurant in Decatur, Indiana.

A small concrete statue of a turtle sits on the sidewalk at the main intersection in the center of Churubusco.

At one point future town councilman surveyed the lake from a plane.

Reporters from the Indianapolis Star and a Fort Wayne gazette—along with a representative from the Cincinnati zoo—confirmed having seen the beast, A photographer from Life magazine even came to cover the story, though his pictures were never published.

At it's peak during the spring of 1949, there were as many as 400 cars an hour counted passing the farm that spring with the Harris family selling coffee and hot dogs  to the sight-seers.

Helen Harris, Gale’s wife, described those frenetic days in a story posted in a booklet commemorating the 25th anniversary of Oscar. Here are some excerpts: “After the newspapers started printing the story about Oscar, people started coming to our farm from everywhere. If you never had an experience similar to this you wouldn’t believe the actions of the public. We couldn’t sit down and eat a meal in peace or get our work done on schedule. I remember one morning we were in the barn milking and a reporter came out and wanted us to quit milking and answer some questions. We told him we had to finish milking first.”

The 400 acre farm was sold in 1950.

Once the U.S. Coast Guard got involved and diving began; and attempts to hunt and trap the beast elicited responses from the Noble County  Game Warden and the Indiana Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.

Eventual  a 200-pound female sea turtle was introduced into the lake to lure out Oscar to no prevail. 

The town of Churubusco began celebrating Turtle Days the following summer, and adopted the nickname “ Turtle Town U.S.A.”

What are they?

Perhaps a glimpse into an alternate world? 

or possibly latent precognitive psychic ability's run amuck..

Some would answer: Dreams are your hope's or aspiration's for the future ..something you want
to do or a goal you wish to achieve eventually..

others may say dreams are just a psychological manifestation of your subconscious mind trying to process the events of your day to day life  or even just the manifestation of stress you may be going through..

Both valid responses.....Because even with all our scientific prowess we  still don't have a definitive  answer for what they truly are.


from time to time we have all had a dream/ nightmare that really hits home, something about it that you just can't shake maybe a joyous occasion that has yet to happen or possibly a nightmare waiting just around the corner.

Can some dream really foretell future events, giving us a  warning for what may lay ahead.

No doubt you've all heard of the Titanic, the unsinkable new ship, that met an icy end on her maiden voyage on April 12th, 1912 after colliding with an iceberg.. but would it surprise you to know that writer Morgan Robertson wrote a novel in 1898 about a new unsinkable transatlantic luxury ship
that strikes an iceberg and sinks resulting in a substantial lose of life in the month of April...the name of the ship in his book was The Titan....

could he have subconsciously viewed this future event in a dream, was this a premonition or  nothing more then a lot of very strange coincidences all at once?

Today we take a trip back to the 70's a time of bell bottoms, Disco fever  and hippie tea....(The secret ingredient was weed .......But you didn't hear  that from me

Ok joking aside today were going to talk about one man's bizarre recurring dreams and the disaster it proceeded...




David Booth..



An otherwise normal man from Cincinnati, Ohio was being haunted by a nightmare that kept replaying night after night..


It all started on May 16th 1979.

David covered in sweat and felling nauseous suddenly awoke from a frightening dream, his wife seeing how distressed he had become  asked him what was wrong.. David then told her of his nightmare, unfortunately for him this was only the beginning.

He recounted that in his dream he was looking out to the horizon on his right, and suddenly there was a jet flying towards him that wasn't making any sound then all of the sudden it banked sharply with the right wing up in the air and was flying inverted for a moment, before diving straight into the ground with a tremendous explosion.

It was at that moment he awoke.

As terrible as it was David believed it to be nothing more then a very bad dream....

Until he had the same dream again the next night and each night following, and every nightmare just as vivid as the last to the point that he would wake up in tears.

This nightmare would repeat over and over again, the same jet  the same crash, this process continued up until May 22.

It was at this point that David began to think this was more then just a horrible dream and that it may in fact happen sometime soon.


So he decided that if the dream accrued again he would try to remember as much detail about the location and the type of jet as he
could in hope's of possibly preventing a tragety. He had a strong filling that the plane was connected to American Airlines, one of the
busiest airplanes in the country at the time.


On the seventh night the dream came again..


After this David contacted The Federal Aviation Administration in Cincinnati, and recounted the event of the dream to Paul Williams the manager of the FAA .

Mr Williams thankfully took David's concerns seriously and ask for as much detail as he could remember, David at the moment unfortunately was only sure it was an American Airlines jet.

Williams proceeded to question David, asking for any detail he could remember, this process would yield more formation as David would go one to state that the jet had a total of 3 jet engines  one on each wing and  one on the tail it was then identified as a DC-10 Jet
but that was all they  could ascertain at the moment..


David would go on to have the same dream 3 more nights, becoming more and more stressed and concerned with each passing day.

It was becoming so bad that he eventually saute  out psychiatric help, believing he was starting to loose his mind.

In the meantime Paul Williams contacted several other airports and relaid Davis information, but the details of the crash and the type of jet and no expected date, time or location they were unable to do anything about it.

The dream came again on the night of  May 25th 1979, however this time when he woke up David had an unsettling filling this would
be the last.

This was a mixed filling though as he felt relief that the nightmare may finally be over, he was also  worried  about the possible accident  waiting to occur.

Later that very same day at Chicago's O'Hare International Airport at 3:05 pm flight 191 a DC-10 jet took off for Los Angeles

All looked well at first the plane took off normally, then suddenly without warning it started to rotate and dive.

The plane was only airborne for a few moments before it started its plummet, sadly the crew was unable  regain control and the jet crashed in a field to the left of O'Hair Airport almost exactly as in Davids dreams.

The crash claimed the  lives of 2 individuals on the ground, the 13 man crew and all of the 258 passengers on board.


It was later discovered that the left wing engine had dislodged mid-flight and hit the rear of the plane severing the electric system and hydraulics in the process. The left wing slats became jammed and caused the right wing to lift tipping the plane and bringing it down.

5 days before Davids dream began this very plane had undergone a basic inspections  on May 11th with no existing problems found.


These records were somehow "lost" during or shortly after the investigation.

After hearing about the crash and subsequent lose of life, and blamed himself for not doing more to prevent it David nearly  suffered a nervous breakdown believing somehow  he could have or should have  done more to save all these people.


Shortly after the crash word got out about Davids dreams and warning's to the FAA, several newspaper's attempted to contact him.

He gave a handful of interviews, and afterwards all but disappeared from the spotlight....

For a long time the DC-10 Jet was viewed by many as structurally unsound, and had many accidents before this crash.

One of which was a 1974, Turkish airlines flight 891 that resulted in the death of 346 individuals.

Soon after the horrific crash of flight 191 the DC-10 Jet line was decommission and eventually phased out of service following
one more fatal crash in  October of the same year.

In another strange turn of events, it would seem that David was not the only one to have a troubling premonition about this flight.

Judy Wax, author and former playboy editor along with her husband unfortunately made there way on to the soon to be doomed jet..

Soon after the crash fans of her literary work noted that in her final book (Starting In The Middle) she wrote a line on page 191 expressing her fear of flying, the same number as the flight that would claim the life of her and her husband .

Another odd account comes from Lindsey Wagner (The Bionic Woman) ..

Lindsey and her mother had tickets for flight 191 heading back to California.
Wagner recounts that just before boarding the plane she  was overcome with nausea which she interpreted as a warning that the plane
was dangerous, she then convinced her mother not to board..

Fairy Lore: Knockers's OR Tommyknockers

                                
 Fairy Lore: The Knockers...

They are often said to live within the mines and can be dangerous or benevolent depending on who you ask..

The Cornish described the creature as a little person two feet tall, with a disproportionately large head, long arms, wrinkled skin, and white whiskers. It wears a tiny version of standard miner's garb and commits random mischief, such as stealing miners' unattended tools and food.


 Other Names
The Knocker, Knacker, Bwca/bucca or Tommyknocker  is a mythical creature in Welsh, Devon and  Cornish mythology . It's closely related to the Kentish Kloker or the Irish Leprechaun .

In the 1820s, immigrant Welsh and Cornish miners brought tales of the tommyknockers and their theft of unwatched items and warning knocks to western Pennsylvania   when they relocated there to work in the mines.

The American gold rush brought people from all over the new world in search for gold , silver and untold wealth with there arrival is  California, Nevada and Colorado  tales of these subteranian dwelling little creatures soon began to rise.

 When asked if they had relatives who would come to work the mines, the Cornish miners always said something along the lines of "Well, me cousin Jack over in Cornwall wouldst come, could ye pay ’is boat ride", and so came to be called Cousin Jack.

The Cousin Jacks, as notorious for losing tools as they were for diving out of shafts just before they collapsed, attributed this to their diminutive friends and refused to enter new mines until assured by the management that the knockers were already on duty. Even non-Cornish miners, who worked deep in the earth where the noisy support timbers creaked and groaned, came to believe in the Tommyknockers. 

The American interpretation of knockers is somewhat  more ethereal or ghost like  than elvish.

                                           



Belief in the knockers in America remained well into the 20th century. When one large mine closed in 1956 and the owners sealed the entrance, fourth, fifth, and sixth generation Cousin Jacks circulated a petition calling on the mineowners to set the knockers free so that they could move on to other mines.


The owners complied. Belief among Nevadan miners persisted among its miners as late as the 1930s. 

 Tommyknocker Brewery in Idaho Springs  Colorado..owes its name to the mythical creature, and began serving in 1859 to meet the needs of the large number of prospectors, as part of the Colorado Sliver Boom. The brewery continues to operate and distributes nationally^.
Knocker also appeared as a name for the same phenomena, in the folklore of Staffordshire miners.
 







 Cornish Myth...
The Knockers  get there name  from the knocking sounds the make on the mine walls that happens just before cave-ins. (actually the creaking of earth and timbers before giving way.)

 To some miners, knockers were malevolent spirits and the knocking was the sound of them hammering at walls and supports to cause the cave-in. Other's  saw them as essentially well-meaning jocksters .

Some believed the knocking was their way of warning the miners that a life-threatening collapse was about to happen.

According to some Cornish folklore, the Knockers were the helpful spirits of people who had died in previous accidents in the tine mines,  and this was there way of warning the miners of impending danger. To give thanks for the warnings, and to avoid future danger  the miners would throw the last bite of their pastries into the mines for the Knockers.


 Some described the knockers as human like in appearance other's say the are more goblin like...

One of the more well know iterations of this tale come from American Horror writer Stephen King and is story The Tommyknockers, later adapted into a movie.....Though they were depicted as aliens instead of supernatural beings

Disney has a new show  called Amphibia, it's about the adventures of a girl named Anna who steals a strange box and finds herself magically teleported to another world inhabited by sentient bipedal frog people, so if you haven't already seen it go check out Amphibia and join Anne and her new froggy family on their crazy adventures.! :)

But what if i told you there is a similar real world counterpart to this show.




The Loveland frog ......

There have been several people with alleged encounters/ sightings of a strange bipedal frog cryptid in or near Loveland Ohio.






The Loveland Frog, is  an amphibious frog like humanoid


According to The Weiser Field Guide to Cryptozoology, it all started in 1955 when a story surfaced about a traveling salesman heading down an unnamed road late at night. The legend claims the man saw three figures standing on their hind legs along the side of the road, about 3 to 4 feet tall with leathery skin and frog faces.

As the original legend goes, the salesman claims he saw the figures converse for a while until one of the “frogs” held a wand over its head, causing sparks to fly and the salesman to flee.

Fast forward to March of 1972. peace love and bipedal frog man or maybe just a little too much "Hippie Tea"

It was around this time   when a Loveland police officer claims  to have seen a weird looking animal cross Riverside Drive next to the Little Miami River, matching the previous description of a leathery skinned, frog-like creature.

Two weeks later  another officer would make a similar claims.

The second officer said  he saw the same thing in the same area, except this time, the officer shoots the creature and puts it in his trunk to show others. So what was it, human frog monster alien or something more mundane?

Well, as it turns out the unfortunate creature was a big iguana that may have been someone’s escaped  or abandon pet.

Well there you go just an iguana,  no magic otherworldly frog people here ,...Move along

But wait right as it seemed like the mystery was over. new evidences emerges

The Frogman meets Pokemon Go, not exactly the water type you were expecting...

In August of 2016 a local man made a video that  according to him, shows the creature once and for all.

 Sam Jacobs says he and his girlfriend were playing “Pokemon Go” between Loveland Madeira Road and Lake Isabella when they spotted the purported Frogman/ Loveland Frog


Jacobs said, “We saw a huge frog near the water.  Not in the game (Pokemon Go), this was an actual giant frog. I took a couple of pictures and a video ’cause I’d never seen one that big.  Then the thing stood up and walked on its hind legs”.

Jacobs went on to say he realizes some people will think he’s crazy.  “I swear on my grandmother’s grave that this is the truth”, Jacobs said.  “I’m not sure whether it was a Frogman or just a giant frog.  Either way, I’ve never seen anything like it.”

So was this as of yet unidentified creature, a hoax, strange visitor from another world a Pokemon ash never caught .... who can really say for certain

In the end, we don’t know if the Loveland Frog is real or not. so the next time your driving along the Little Miami River in Loveland at night, we’ll be keeping our eyes out and a pokeball ready.

" BEC" Black Eyed Children or "BEK" Black Eyed Kids

There can be very few people within the field of paranormal research who have not heard of the BEC. But, the MIB parallels might be new to some.

In the same way that the Men in Black wear black suits and black fedoras, the Black Eyed Children often wear black hoodies.

 So, we have a black outfit and black head-gear present in both phenomena. Both the MIB and the BEC very often surface late at night. Trying to convince people to let them into their homes is one of the most chilling aspects of the activities of both the MIB and the BEC. And they are very good – almost too good – at making their escape. But, certainly, no-one has done more to highlight the MIB-BEC connections and parallels than David Weatherly, whose 2012 book, The Black Eyed Children, is essential reading.

Another good read is “Children of the Men in Black.” by David Running to 18-pages, the paper makes it very clear that there are far more BEC-MIB links than many might imagine. David states in his paper: “On the surface, there may seem to be few connections between the UFO connected MIB and creepy little kids with black eyes showing up on doorsteps. But, when we delve into the actual accounts, we find numerous similarities. Consider the appearance of both beings.”

The BEKs are usually described as having pale or pasty skin. Some witnesses report that the skin looks ‘artificial.’ Still other accounts claim that the children have olive toned skin that implies they are of Mediterranean origin. Both of these descriptions are heard in classic MIB encounters. Oddly, no one who has ever encountered the BEKs report a blemish of any kind. Bear in mind, these are children usually in their pre-teen years. One would expect acne, pimples, freckles, something, but it’s never the case.”

Next is the manner of speech. The black eyed children are reported to speak in a very monotone manner. Their use of language is often awkward and unusual. They will use phrases that simply aren’t natural such as ‘Is it food time?’ Perhaps even more troubling, many people who encounter the BEKs believe that the children are attempting to exert some type of mind control through the use of repeated phrases and their cold, monotone speech patterns.

Typical MIB encounters certainly contain elements of attempted coercion by the strange men as witnesses to UFO sightings are encouraged to ignore what they saw. Are the attempts by the children another form of this same control dynamic?”

Then there is something that is reported very often in MIB-based situations: electronic interference. And, particularly so, problems with phones. .

Whatever they are, the black eyed children don’t appear to be going anywhere and they are leaving as many questions in their wake as the MIB before them. Whether the two are connected or not, it looks like we’re in for more bizarre manifestations ahead. So pay attention.

The next time there’s a knock at your door, there’s no telling what kind of strange figure will be waiting on the other
side....

The Yeti...

The Abominable Snowman --Yeti...

The search to find the Yeti can be traced back to the time of Alexander the Great, who in 326 BC set out to conquer the Indus Valley.

Having heard stories of the Yeti he demanded to see one for himself, but local people told him they were unable to present one because the creatures could not survive at that low an altitude.

In the 1950s the Nepali government cashed in on the increasingly popular Yeti myth by issuing Yeti-hunting licenses priced at £400 per Yeti. To date no-one has succeeded in capturing a specimen dead, or alive.



Sakteng Wildlife Sanctuary in Bhutan is a national park officially dedicated to preserving the Yeti.



The name ‘Abominable Snowman’ was coined in 1921 by journalist Henry Newman who mis-translated the Tibetan label Metoh-Kangmi, “dirty men in the snow”.



Mystery primates are reported from every continent except Antarctica. They include the Sasquatch of North America, the Yowie in Australia, the Yeren of China, the Hibagon in Japan, the Orang Pendek in Sumatra, the Almasty of Russia, the Ferles Mor in Scotland, and the Mapinguari of Brazil.



It is suggested that the Yeti myth originated in Tibet, and reached Nepal via the Sherpa, descendants of families who emigrated from the Khams region of Tibet across the Himalayan range in the middle of the sixteenth century.



Possible explanations for the unusually large footprints found over the years include the effect of evaporation and melting snow, the ‘overstepping’ phenomenon in which the longer tracks of an animal’s hind feet overlap and obscure the tracks of the shorter forefeet, and even the prints left by nomadic mountain men wearing roughly-woven snow sandals.



The first scientist to investigate the Yeti was German Professor Ernst Schaefer. Allegedly, he was employed by the head of the SS Heinrich Himmler to search for the Yeti in 1938 in the hope that it would turn out to be the progenitor of the Aryan race. Schaefer reached the conclusion that the Yeti was in fact the Tibetan bear.



The Yeti is big business in Nepal. Visitors can stay at the luxurious Yak and Yeti hotel in Kathmandu and even travel with Yeti airlines.



The Himalaya mountain range is both remote and vast with a length of about 2,400 km and a width of 200-400 km. The range includes Mount Everest, the highest peak on earth, standing at 29,028 feet high. The Yeti is said to roam between the treeline and permanent snow at 14,000 to 20,000 feet.



The annual Mani Rimdu Festival is celebrated in Nepal during the full moon of October/November. During the festival, monks wear masks to portray divine beings and perform ritual dances. Traditionally, one of the dancers will take on the role of the Yeti.



Sherpa tradition holds that the Yeti will only show itself to those who believe in it.



In 1969, the Board of County Commissioners of Skamania County, Oregon, introduced a bill stating that any person found to have slain a Bigfoot creature would be punishable by law by a fine of up to ten thousand dollars or imprisoned for up to five years. The board did not, however, claim that such a creature definitely existed.



Bigfoot sightings have been reported in every US state except Hawaii.



The most famous Bigfoot sighting is the creature filmed by Roger Patterson and Bob Gimlin in the Bluff Creek region of northern California. Despite much investigation since the footage was captured in 1967, it is still uncertain whether this was the product of a hoax or a genuine sighting.



Before 1847 the gorilla was unnamed and known only through rumor. Believed to be a myth in the west and a supernatural being by African tribespeople, it was only when a missionary in West Africa was shown a gorilla skull that the animal was accepted as real.

Australia Floklore The Bunyip..

Cryptid's of Australia. The Bunyip

Today we visit the land down under a vast continent full of dangerous creatures some of myth and legend others very much real...

From Snake's and Croc's to The Yowie and the Bunyip there are many interesting  things too talk about when discussing Australia, however this post will be focused primarily on the legend of the bunyip one of Australia's most well know and feared cryptids.

When you mention Australia most people immediately think of The iconic Sydney Opera House or the vast area of land that make up the Australian Outback but this country has so much more to see from pristine National Parks to rain forests and even Opel Mines...however like most thing's in life it also has a darker side beneath the beautiful  landscape and city's there may be monster's just around the corner waiting to pounce...

Most myths and legend's have a real life inspiration somewhere in the distant past at least to some extent,and i like to believe the same holds true for most cryptids as well. For instance Dracula by Bram Stoker was inspired in part by  Vlad Tempest AKA Vlad the impaler Or Vlad Dracula ..a fierce 15th century Romanian king that fought of the invading Turkish army or Bigfoot the mythical forest giant that has been seen by thousands of people from all over the world but can be linked back 
to gigantopithecus the largest know now "extinct" member of the great ape's.

The Bunyip is a carnivorous semi-aquatic cryptid that has been spotted in river's lakes and even creeks all over Australia  the word bunyip means devil or evil spirit according to the  aboriginal tribes

The modern Bunyip legend seems to have originated in south eastern Australian in  New South Wales (then just a colony) in 1818  when a group of explorers discover unusual skeletal remains on the shore of Lake Bathurst two members of the group James Meehan and Hamilton Hume described the remains as a hippopotamus or possibly a manatee but that there as something very different about them The PESA (Philosophy of Education Society of Australia) offered to  pay for a small expedition with the hope of returning  with a bunyip specimen for further study. Unfortunately mister hume was unable to find the location again and the bones were never recovered.

There are many different descriptions of the bunyip's appearance, the overall body is said too resemble a strange combination of a hippo, seal and dinosaur , others say it is covered in fur with a head like a dog, some say it has smooth  reptilian like skin and there are even some sightings describing the creature with a more avian appearance I.E  covered in feathers

In his book Bunyip's Australia's folklore of fear author Robert Holden describes 9 different aboriginal variants  of this criptid each differing slightly from one region to the next.


According to aboriginal lore the bunyip is said to have a loud bellowing scream/roar and is very formidable in a fight this combined with it's short tempered nature and propensity for hunting in or near water sources make this creature truly terrifying


As European settlements spread across the continent bunyip sightings increased, allegedly in 1845 bunyip fossils were discovered and later reported in  the Geelong Advertiser that same article recounted other run ins  with the bunyip one unfortunate case was of woman being killed another was of  a man that was allegedly attacked still baring scars from the bunyips claws, the man described the bunyip as having  a head like an emu and a long bill with stingray like protrusions on ether side of the bill and a body resembling  that of an alligator but with thick back legs and somewhat longer front legs each having long claws at the end.

Aside from Biting, Clawing or Drowning it's prey the bunyip has also been said to "hug" it's victims to death with it's longer front legs similar to a python suffocating it's prey..

In some variations the bunyip is smaller in stature in other's it is around 10 to 13 feet in height/length and semi aquatint swimming like a large frog in the water and  bipedal well on land.

A escaped convict by the  named of William Buckley claimed to have encountered the bunyip on several occasions well living among the Wathaurong people an aboriginal tribe in the outback for many years, he said the animal was covered in grey feathers and could be found in inland lakes and even had supernatural powers capable of causing sickness or famine if angered.

One day in January 1846 a strange skull was found near the Murrumbidgee River that same year a bunyip or possibly a giant platypus was spotted on the banks of the Uriarra River.

The Murrumbidgee Skull is supposedly nothing more then the deformed skull of a calf, but many still argue in favor of it's authenticity and proof of the bunyip.

1851 A bunyip allegedly burst out of the water and killed a man in  passing bout on the Challicum Staion creek near  Ararat Victoria the bunyip in turn was killed by another man on the boat and its  body was outlined on the shore the outline was retraced every year at least as late as 1867 when the site was visited by a man from Moonambel a  Mr R.E. John The clerk of petty sessions, who made a messurment and sketch of the outline butting the size of the creature at 21 feet  for the main body and 28ft in overall length. He also made a map of the location. the area was eventually turned into grazing land for sheep farmers and the outline is now  unfortunately lost to history.









In 1857 Edwin Stockqueler a British artist sketched what he said has a bunyip, stating that the animal was mostly submerged in the water with only it's neck back and shoulders visible.

Sighting still persist to this day, could the bunyip be a supernatural creature haunting the outback or possible  a of pre-ice age or even prehistoric animal long since thought to be extinct..

Keep in mind that the Coelacanth a pre historic specials of fish was classified as extinct until a fisherman off the of south Africa caught on in 1938, and other animals like the platypus and silver-back gorilla were thought to be nothing more then local folklore until a live specimen was captured/ observed.

There are undauntedly many new species out there that we have yet to discover, and sadly thousands that have already gone extinct before discovery, and with the rate of human expansion into once untouched land's i think the odds of discovering a creature once thought to be nothing more the  myth, still alive and well are pretty high.
